Car Burglaries in Lakes at Boca Raton

A reader contacted us:

There have been numerous amounts of auto break ins in the lakes of Boca Raton neighborhood. Please if you can write a post about people making sure their cars are locked since there has been a large amount of car break-ins. they seem to be always stealing electronics but leaving radar detectors sunglasses etc.

The Lakes at Boca Raton is just north of Yamato on both sides of Cain Blvd, which is east of US-441.

We’ve heard similar stories in the past about car break-ins in nearby South County Regional Park.
We contacted the Sheriff’s office to see if they had any comment. Here’s what they had to say:


Deputies Remind Residents to “Lock It or Lose It”
Over the last few weeks the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office has been experiencing an increase in vehicle burglaries occurring in various neighborhoods in PBC. Many of the burglaries have been occurring due to owners forgetting to lock their vehicles.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind you to:
· Do not leave valuables in plain view
· (GPS, lap tops, PDA’s, cell phones and purses)
· Do not leave windows open
· Do not leave doors unlocked
· Do not leave the keys inside the vehicle
· Do not leave out items with personal information
· Do not move valuable items to the trunk while in public view
