pinksoftballThe West Boca Youth Baseball and West Boca Softball Diamonds are holding a fundraiser to raise money for Boca Raton Regional Hospital’s Go Pink Challenge. The Go Pink Challenge helps women who need mammograms but do not have health insurance. “Pinkball” will take place on April 12th at 12 p.m. at South County Regional Park. Doggie Ball in West Boca to benefit Tri County Humane Society

doggieballThe 12th annual doggie ball will be held March 23rd at the Boca West Country Club. The western-themed fundraiser will start at 5:30 p.m. It will include cocktails, dinner, dancing to a live band and live and silent auctions. Tickets are $250 per person. The fundraiser benefits the Tri County Humane Society.
The Tri County Human Society is a 100% no kill nonprofit 501 c(3) animal shelter that rescues over 3,000 cats and dogs in the tri-county area per year. For more information or to buy tickets, call 561-482-8110.

Hooray for Hollywood … in West Boca

Coming April 6th: the Florida Intergenerational Orchestra will put on a concert under the name: Hooray For Hollywood
In their ninth season, the orchestra will perform at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 22094 Lyons Road (SE corner with Palmetto). The show is a tribute to the music we hear in film. As a bonus, there will also be a contest where you can show your knowledge of music in movies.

Realty Expo on the 19th in Boca West

The South Florida Realty Expo, a free trade show for licensed real estate professionals, will take place on Wednesday, March 19, from 3:00 to 7:00. They expect over 1000 attendees and 60+ exhibitors.
This is their second annual show and it will be held at Boca West Country Club.

Kiki's Krew raises funds for JDRF

kiki3Kiki’s Krew, a West Boca team, has been busy raising funds for the JDRF. JDRF, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, helps to improve the lives of people affected by type 1 diabetes through research and programs. Recently, Kiki’s Krew raised $1000 selling colored sneakers at Water’s Edge Elementary School.
Yesterday, Kiki’s Krew organized a luncheon at the Boca Country Club. Over 90 people attended the luncheon to raise money for JDRF.  The day included tennis, a silent auction, a boutique and raffle. Lunch was a delicious buffet and dessert.

Nicole Cohen, a JDRF youth ambassador, spoke about being diagnosed at age 9. Kiki’s Krew was created in honor of Nicole by her parents to raise money for the JDRF.

Tracey Scherr Cohen talked about how she created Kiki’s Krew and encouraged attendees to participate in the upcoming Walk to Cure Diabetes on April 5th. Members of the community can join their team at the walk or donate online. The luncheon raised over $14,000 for JDRF.
