Council chair Scarborough advised that Boca West has been approved for an additional 140 luxury units. Rooms to Go on Glades is also expanding.
The speaker discussed Parks and Recreation – not the TV show but the parks here in the county and especially West Boca.

There was a discussion about the “move over” law. It has been expanded to cover tow trucks. A tow truck operator (Jim from Emeril Towing) discussed actual incidents where workers have been injured or killed. If you can’t get over you’re required to slow to 20 mph under the limit.

We spoke with Andrew after the event to see if we could get better notice of events in the park and the impacts from them including sound and traffic. We are hopeful that we will be able to provide better information to our readers in the near future.

GBYSA to Begin its Fall Season This Week

The Greater Boca Youth Soccer Association will begin practices for most age groups starting this week. GBYSA is the main youth, recreational soccer league in West Boca. It has competitive play for both males and females ages 5-18.
Having been in this league for seven straight seasons, I have to say that GBYSA is a great place to allow your child to play soccer. The games are competitive and fun, and the coaches are extremely energetic.
It is not too late to sign up. There is a 2013-2014 recreational soccer wait list at www.gbysa.org.

Early Morning Alarm Waking Residents

Update 3 (Tuesday November 5th): Mr. Henry called me earlier today and let me know they’ve isolated the problem. They have taken steps to prevent it from occurring again.
Update 2: We spoke with Phil Henry (or Hendry) at the golf course this morning. He told us he is investigating to figure out what’s going on and we asked him to let us know what he finds out.
Update: The alarm went off a second time and we were able to drive over in time to isolate the noise as coming from Osprey Point Golf Course in South County Regional Park. We called 911 to advise the police and will follow up with the course during business hours.
Amateur video from just outside Osprey Point.

We’ve heard reports from residents who live near the west end of Glades Road that an alarm is going off in the early morning hours somewhere nearby.
Monday the alarm sounded at roughly 3:30 am for the second night in a row. It appears the alarm may be from West Boca High School, South County Regional Park, or possibly the fire station.
If anyone knows more please let us know in the comments.
