Palm Beach Post on Perman vs. Rader
The Palm Beach Post endorses Steve Perman over Kevin Rader in the Democratic primary coming up next month. This is for the State House seat that represents West Boca. The winner will face Republican James Ryan O’Hara.
The editorial is short on substance, accusing Rader of “seat-shopping,” a popular criticism among insiders that matters little to regular voters. They also criticize Rader for a past conflict of interest while acknowledging Perman suffers a similar conflict.
For our part, we’re waiting for Mr. Rader to respond to our issue questions. Mr. Perman has been gracious enough to answer the first and it seems likely he’ll also answer the second. I have personally seen Perman and O’Hara at events but have yet to meet Rader.
It also seems like Rader’s campaign is disorganized. His campaign website is still, as of this writing less than a month before the primary, titled Kevin Rader for State Senate. The code behind the page has that as the page “title.” That’s not going to help him defuse the seat-shopping charge.

A Republican Colony in West Boca
The Boca Raton Republican Club is opening a “GOP Victory” office in the Boca Greens plaza, with the express purpose “to get Mitt Romney elected.”
Grand opening is scheduled for Friday, July 27th, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. The event includes music, food, door prizes, and “Meet the Candidates”. But we don’t think Mitt will be on hand. It will probably be other local GOP candidates.
If anyone hears of a Democratic event in West Boca, please send us details so we can spread the word for them too.
July 19th: 5K at South County Park
The West Boca JCC is holding a Run Sweat & Beers event this coming Thursday in South County Regional Park.
Check-in starts at 5:30 pm at the Sunset Pavilion. The race starts at 7 and there will be food and awards around 8 pm. Get packets at the JCC for the next couple days or at the race on Thursday.
The event benefits a scholarship fund.
