Repeat Felon Steals Girlfriend's Checks?

charles-nelson-fraud-theft
Charles Brice Nelson (above, 23) was arrested on Wednesday and charged with five separate counts including two traffic tickets, two felony counts of fraud, and one count of felony grand theft. He remains in custody at this writing on $18,000 bond.
Per the Palm Beach Post, Nelson allegedly stole checks from a girlfriend and used them to pay off personal debts. It should be noted that Mr. Nelson apparently denies doing so, and he is innocent at this stage of the legal process.
Mr. Nelson has a significant criminal history in the county. He’s had several traffic tickets in just a few years, and in addition he had felony arrests in 2012 and 2013. The 2012 felony arrest involved an aggravated assault charge and a second count that court records show as either “burglary with assault” or “robbery with weapon.” The latter charge was dropped, Nelson was adjudicated guilty of the assault and he was sentenced to a year in jail and 4 years of probation. That probation was later revoked.
With that sentence in mind, it’s odd that his 2013 felony arrest, for grand theft, involves an offense date before that one-year sentence would have been completed. Court records show he was adjudicated guilty in the 2013 case and was sentenced to “364 days” concurrent with the first sentence, and it shows no additional probation.
It’s now a few months after that second one-year sentence finished and he’s arrested again, this time for grand theft and fraud.
Mr. Nelson’s reported address is just southeast of the intersection of Kimberly and 441, in a small house that is owned by someone in Rhode Island.

Blue Agave on 441 in Parkland

We previously reported that a new Mexican restaurant would be opening on 441 in Parkland. Blue Agave finally opened a couple months ago and we stopped by for lunch.
The first thing we noticed is that the lunch prices are excellent. I had a steak fajita lunch for $8.95. It wasn’t a huge portion of meat, but it was more than I could eat.

It did come with a lot of accompaniments, including sour cream and guacamole.

I have to say this was the best guacamole I’ve had in South Florida. A lot of places serve it bland. This had excellent texture and flavor. Overall the fajitas were very good. Keep in mind that I’ve lived in both Texas and California, so my tastes may differ from yours.
My companion had the two-enchilada lunch which was $6.95. The guacamole was a dollar extra. She particularly liked that the food was not spicy. We asked the manager and he said they can make dishes spicy but only do so if the customer asks. It’s his impression that 90% of their customers don’t like it spicy, particularly the customers from Latin countries. Because we have a couple friends with shellfish allergies we asked him about that and he assured us they can take care of them, but to make sure to tell your server when you order.

They have a broad menu. Even the lunch menu has over 30 choices from $5.95 to $8.95, including a few egg dishes. The dinner menu has most of the same items at higher prices and presumably with larger portions. Dinner fajitas start at $13.95 which is quite reasonable.
The interior is large and colorful. The fire code sign indicates it can hold up to 200 people.

Blue Agave is in the Waterway Shoppes, just south of the county line on the west side of 441. It’s near The Whale Raw Bar & Fish House and Giovanni’s Pizza. The location used to be the Edo Sushi Buffet.

Stella's Pizzeria in Boca Greens

Update: Since our original review Stella’s has become our go-to place for pizza. And they have freshened the interior making it a pleasant sit-down restaurant as well. They have a full array of Italian entrees for eat-in, take-out or delivery.

We keep hearing about Stella’s Pizzeria in Boca Greens. It was reviewed several years ago by our friend at Worst Pizza. We finally got around to trying it and we liked it. When we were there the other day Gina was our server and she was quite friendly and energetic.

I had a lunch combo with a slice of pizza and a half a meatball parm sub. Being a meat lover, I added pepperoni and sausage:

The pizza was the best part of the meal. It was excellent. The crust was as Worst Pizza described it – crispy but not burnt. For me the cheese, sauce and toppings all went well together and it was just right. One of the best slices I’ve had in a while.
The meatball parm sub was good.

My companion had the baked ziti lunch and liked it. She thought the sauce was good and it came with plenty of cheese.

We both liked the garlic rolls:

A few days later we had some friends over and ordered two pizzas from Stella’s. The large cheese pie was popular and went fast. The small meat lovers was good, but not quite as good as that pepperoni and sausage slice I had at the restaurant.
Stella’s is in Boca Greens Plaza on the west side of 441 between Glades and Yamato.

West Boca Wildlife Photos

Reader and photographer Johnnie Butters sent us several wildlife photos from various locations in West Boca, generally on the canal along 441. He inspired us to take some on a lake in Boca Falls. But his are better so we’ll put his first in this article.
