Stenner Removed From West Boca High

Principal Stenner will be transferred from West Boca High School as a result of a hastily revised settlement agreement after he was found to have plagiarized his graduation speeches.
The Palm Beach School Board voted 6-0 to approve the settlement this afternoon in an agenda item that took less than 20 seconds.

The key language in the settlement is below:
stenner-removed
The school district also issued a statement:

The School Board voted today to reassign Mark Stenner to a non-instructional position within the District. With the Board’s decision, Mr. Stenner will no longer be the principal of West Boca High School.
Superintendent Robert M. Avossa, Ed.D. made the recommendation based on his firm belief in holding employees, particularly instructional leaders, accountable for their actions.
It is the District’s view that we can all learn from this incident, move on without beleaguering the issue any longer and provide our students with a high-quality education.
Mr. Stenner will express his remorse to the West Boca High School community and is dedicated to exemplifying honesty and integrity for himself and the School District in the future.

The “firm belief” comment seems odd since the original proposed settlement was for Stenner to stay at West Boca High and was only changed at the last minute. We suspect it was the result of complaints from the public.
