Co-working at Caffeine Spaces
Nestled away in a quiet spot on the FAU R&D campus is Caffeine Spaces. It’s a co-working space popular among entrepreneurs and technophiles. If working from home is wearing on you, a co-working space can be a great way to liven things up.
Walking in, you instantly get a feel for the Silicon Valley inspired mindset of the regulars and founders.
The wall blackboard calendar includes a variety of events, meetups and seminars. You see phrases like micro venture capital, first robotics and coders cafe. Beyond business, the Friday Geeks Night Out is a social gathering.
The main area has plenty of room for members to work on their laptops or other devices, using the wifi network. Spaces like these are often furnished with plenty of desks for the employees to work at and comfortable chairs to sit on.
There are also conference rooms when privacy is needed. They have also started to offer things like office phone booths (like the ones found at My Office Pod) to help offer privacy when people need to make a phone call. It’s an office worker’s dream to have all of these things readily available for them to use, as it can help them be more productive with their working day.
The community is full of pleasant and interesting characters. Here Matt Trask, aka Mr Gadget or perhaps Q from the Bond films, shows a 3D printer to a political visitor.
Other key figures (below) include Ryan Teixeira (far left) and big cheese Mark Laymon (left).
It’s a diverse crowd with varying accents and a common passion, and part of a larger South Florida community affiliated with Refresh Miami and others.
Membership isn’t free but its a lot less than paying for office space and it includes camaraderie that may be otherwise hard to find. Last we checked a 5-day trial membership is only $25.
