Community Council – Parks
Council chair Scarborough advised that Boca West has been approved for an additional 140 luxury units. Rooms to Go on Glades is also expanding.
The speaker discussed Parks and Recreation – not the TV show but the parks here in the county and especially West Boca.
There was a discussion about the “move over” law. It has been expanded to cover tow trucks. A tow truck operator (Jim from Emeril Towing) discussed actual incidents where workers have been injured or killed. If you can’t get over you’re required to slow to 20 mph under the limit.
Andrew Holzinger, Special Events Coordinator from Parks, spoke about the programs in South County Regional Park.
Other staff spoke about various aspects of the park, such as Coconut Cove Water Park, Daggerwing Nature Center, Osprey Point Golf Course and the Sunset Cove Amphitheater.
Cali from Daggerwing showed off an owl named Shadow.
We spoke with Andrew after the event to see if we could get better notice of events in the park and the impacts from them including sound and traffic. We are hopeful that we will be able to provide better information to our readers in the near future.
