Last night, West Boca News attended the West Boca Relay for Life Kickoff Event at Hurricane Grill. The Relay is the biggest fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Over 60 relays will take place in South Florida this year! Last year, 35 teams in West Boca raised over $30,000. The money raised at the Relay goes to research and American Cancer Society programs. West Boca residents can help organize the Relay, volunteer during the Relay or create a Team for the Relay. Each team has a tent at the event where they can raise funds for the cause and participate in track events over the course of 24 hours.
Tani Winslow, a cancer survivor and the Survivor chair, spoke about her personal journey and how much the Relay means to her. Relay coordinators expect the event to take place in early June but the location and exact date are yet to be determined. To get more information, check out their website.
