Kiki’s Krew, a West Boca team, has been busy raising funds for the JDRF. JDRF, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, helps to improve the lives of people affected by type 1 diabetes through research and programs. Recently, Kiki’s Krew raised $1000 selling colored sneakers at Water’s Edge Elementary School.
Yesterday, Kiki’s Krew organized a luncheon at the Boca Country Club. Over 90 people attended the luncheon to raise money for JDRF. The day included tennis, a silent auction, a boutique and raffle. Lunch was a delicious buffet and dessert.
Nicole Cohen, a JDRF youth ambassador, spoke about being diagnosed at age 9. Kiki’s Krew was created in honor of Nicole by her parents to raise money for the JDRF.
Tracey Scherr Cohen talked about how she created Kiki’s Krew and encouraged attendees to participate in the upcoming Walk to Cure Diabetes on April 5th. Members of the community can join their team at the walk or donate online. The luncheon raised over $14,000 for JDRF.
