Inside the Publix Prostitution Sting
Update: We now have video from the Publix prostitution sting.
West Boca News has obtained the probable cause affidavit from one of the recent arrests in the PBSO prostitution sting at the Sandalfoot Publix. Here’s a section of that affidavit, with names and other identifying information blocked out for both the defendant and the deputies.
First of all we can see that this operation was conducted at “various locations throughout Palm Beach County,” with locations based on “recent citizen’s complaints.” The address indicated is 22973 South State Road 7, which is indeed the address for the Publix at West Boca Plaza at the corner of Sandalfoot and State Road 7 (US-441).
A deputy sheriff was a decoy, “posing as a prostitute” at that address. As the police describe it, this particular defendant approached her in a van, and during a conversation offered to pay $30 for sex. At that point “arrest teams responded from a concealed location,” stopped the vehicle and arrested the defendant.
The affidavit also indicates that they have both audio and video of the incident, which we will be requesting from PBSO.
