Sandpiper Shores Alumni Event

Sandpiper Shore Elementary School recently hosted an alumni event to commemorate the school’s 25th year. The event brought together many alumni and faculty from the school’s history. In fact, there were several alumni that are presently teachers at Sandpiper. The school’s original assistant principal, Ira Margulies, was in attendance and he gave a memorable speech regarding his fond memories of his time at Sandpiper. Also in attendance was former Sandpiper Shores principal Reginald Myers, who is the current principal of Park Vista High School in Lake Worth.
A time capsule was opened that contained a student roll showing the signature of every student from the 1989-1990 school year. The time capsule also contained a copy of the Palm Beach Post, a playlist from FM 96.5, as well as school memorabilia including hats and clothing bearing the Sandpiper Shores logo. Overall, it was a great event that brought back many memories for the faculty and alumni, including the author of this article. Although social media provides an opportunity to stay in touch with childhood friends through cyberspace, alumni events like this illustrate there is no substitute for an in-person reunion.
