Olympic Heights Kid Faces New Charges
Desmond Washington, 18, now faces a series of new charges arising out of one or more incidents from July of last year.
Washington made the news as part of a robbery in July of 2014 involving several young males and guns in West Boca. We covered a small part of that case involving Curtis Hamilton back in March of this year. Washington was arrested in that case in August.
In addition to the robbery incident, Mr. Washington was charged in November with burglary and grand theft of a firearm. Those two cases appear to be resolved with Mr. Washington getting sentenced to a couple years in state prison. He is scheduled for release in 2016.
However, several new charges were filed within the past few days and for now he’s back in the county jail. Court records show multiple counts of grand theft and dealing in stolen property, indicating these offenses took place a day after the robbery.
It would appear that Mr. Washington may be facing some additional time in state prison, though of course he’s innocent until proven guilty and the delay in charging him may suggest problems for the prosecution in proving their case.
Mr. Washington’s reported address is in the Vineyards, off Palmetto Park Road just east of the newly reopened Walmart.
