Prompted by some recent reader reports, we took at look at the crime map for the first half of the month. We see the typical economic crimes where the stores are along 441 and Glades Road. Also notable are a bunch of car break-ins and vehicle thefts in Boca Del Mar and the Boca Pointe area.
Despite its negative reputation, there seem to have been fewer than usual crimes in West Sandalfoot (aka Watergate Estates) and east of 441 in Sandalfoot Cove.
The gated communities were mostly quiet, but there were a few incidents in the Polo Club, Boca West, Boca Woods, The Oaks, Boca Isles South, Lexington Estates, and as mentioned above, in Boca Pointe.
The list includes only four DUI incidents. There’s two on Glades, one at Cain and another at Lyons. We think both of those arose from accidents. There’s another from yesterday at 441 and SW 18th, though we don’t think that one involved any accident. The rollover fatality on 441 is listed as a vehicle homicide, though we don’t think there’s been any arrest yet.
