Hundreds Volunteer for Congregation B’Nai Israel’s 22nd Annual Lori Sklar Mitzvah Day
More than 300 members of Congregation B’nai Israel spent Sunday, February 22nd at the synagogue dedicating a day to acts of human kindness at the 22nd Annual Lori Sklar Mitzvah Day. Members performed a variety of “Mitzvot” for more than 20 local non-profits.
Congregants made blankets to be distributed to local hospitals and cancer treatment facilities by Blanket Buddies, baked cookies and made more than 500 peanut butter & jelly sandwiches to feed the hungry at The Caring Kitchen, clipped coupons for Coupon Cadets for Military Families, sorted clothing collections for Ruth & Norman Rales Jewish Family Services and created thank you cards for the city of Boca Fire Rescue. They also cleaned shoes for In Jacob’s Shoes, sorted food donations for the Palm Beach County Fire Bank, donated blood to One Blood and were tested by the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation.
