Rats in Golf? Nope – In the Kitchen

The worst restaurant inspection of the week goes to the Ocean Breeze Golf Course in East Boca. Inspectors closed the restaurant there for a day after finding rodents in the kitchen. They found “4 dead rodents [and 1 live rodent] in trap on floor under cookline.” We’ve been there. They have a good hot dog and beer deal.
That wasn’t the only problem. They also had some temperature and handwashing issues, for a total of 14 violations including 3 marked high priority.
There were a couple of bigger numbers in and near West Boca. Boca Pita Express on Beracasa Way had 18 violations, but only one was high priority.

The Whale in Parkland (441 just south of the county line) had 16 violations, but again only one was high priority.
World of Beer in Promenade (Coconut Creek) had 14 violations with 2 high priority. We didn’t realize they serve their own food, because we often see servers coming from the other restaurants in Promenade.

Lucky Palace in West Boca Square (the Target plaza) had 12 violations, 3 high priority. None of them looked terrible to us.
Back in East Boca, Tesser’s Deli had the second worst overall inspection in this week’s report. They had 13 violations including 7 marked high priority, mostly involving food temperatures, food storage and hand washing.
Good News
The best this week was also in a golf club, though fancier. Boca Grove Golf & Tennis managed a perfect inspection with zero violations.
Good inspections were reported for several places.
1 violation:
Jersey Mike’s, 1200 Yamato (near Broken Sound)
The Salad Spot, 690 Yamato (at Congress near the train station)
2 violations:
Subway on Lyons in Coconut Creek
Einstein Bagels in Shadowood
Panda Express on 441 in Coral Springs
Wendy’s in Boca Lyons Plaza
3 violations:
Four Seasons in Lakeside Centre (Glades at Boca Rio)
El Paso on Wiles in Coral Springs
Zinburger in Town Center Mall
Kasi and Subway at 690 Yamato at Congress
Other notables include La Bamba, which recovered from last year’s horrible inspection to have 7 violations on this one.
Hunan City at Yamato and Lakeridge had a passable 8 violations (zero high priority).
Hurricane Grill in Mission Bay had 9 violations, 3 of them high priority.
Bonaccino Cafe in Town Center also had 9 violations, 4 high priority. This was also a recovery from a terrible inspection last year.
