Restaurant Inspection Report for Early March
We’ll start with the good news in this week’s report. Two restaurants tied for best of the week with with only 2 violations – Fit Foodz Cafe (on Clint Moore) and Juice & Java (St. Andrews).
Close behind them with just three minor violations were two restaurants in the Polo Club Shoppes, Yokohama Sushi and Bangkok Thai.
Bonefish Grill and Olive Garden, both on Powerline, were next with four violations each. Einstein Bagels (Powerline) and It’s All Greek (same plaza as Fit Foodz Cafe) had five violations each.
The biggest number in our report was for Latinos Restaurante at Hillsboro and Military Trail in Deerfield Beach, with 23 violations including 4 marked high priority. This included a stop sale on a few items:
- Potentially hazardous (time/temperature control for safety) food cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. 10 gallons Cooked beans 53° in true 2 door freezer. Flip top cooler across from stove 3 pounds sausage 46°-66°, 1 pound cooked potatoes 48°, 2 pounds cooked pork 70° held overnight.
- Raw animal food stored over ready-to-eat food in reach-in cooler. Raw fish over cooked beans in true freezer.
- Raw animal food stored over ready-to-eat food. Flip top cooler raw fish over cut onions. Operator rearranged flip top cooler for proper storage. **Corrected On-Site**
- Stop Sale issued on potentially hazardous (time/temperature control for safety) food due to temperature abuse. 10 gallons Cooked beans 53° in true 2 door freezer. Flip top cooler across from stove 3 pounds sausage 46°-66°, 1 pound cooked potatoes 48°, 2 pounds cooked pork 70° held overnight.
Muddy Waters in Deerfield had another bad inspection, with 19 violations, 4 high priority including a stop sale on some items also for temperature abuse.
- All potentially hazardous (time/temperature control for safety) foods in reach-in cooler cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Raw tuna between 44°-51°F, raw shrimp 53°, raw chicken 46°-48°F, cooked Mussels 49°, slice sausage 49°, raw scallops 44°-49°F, crab meat 51°, pasta 46°-49°F, slice tomatoes 48° batter 61°F see stop sale. **Warning**
- Potentially hazardous (time/temperature control for safety) food cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Home made dressing found at 53°F and real butter 66°F at wait station cooler. **Repeat Violation** **Warning**
- Single-use gloves not changed as needed after changing tasks or when damaged or soiled. Dishwasher failed to change gloves when handling dirty to clean utensils. **Corrected On-Site** **Warning**

Muddy Waters had 9 high priority violations in December, and we previously reported on a bad inspection for them back in November of 2014.
Other big numbers were reported for Wok Out in Polo Club Shoppes (19 violations, 1 high priority) and Japango in Delray Marketplace (18, 1). Japango had a horrible inspection back in 2015, but this latest one was much better.
