Grow to Give at Congregation B'nai Israel

locksofloveOn November 6, 2016, approximately 30 women, teen and child members and friends of Congregation B’nai Israel will cut and donate their hair at the second biannual “Grow to Give” event. The hair will be made into wigs for women and children undergoing cancer treatment. The women have been growing out their hair for several months in preparation. Hundreds of people are expected to attend to watch the hair cutting ceremony and enjoy the family-centered activities.
“Grow to Give” is the brainchild of Rabbi Marci R. Bloch of Congregation B’nai Israel. The participants, including Rabbi Bloch, have grown their hair out and will donate it to either Locks of Love (10 inches) or Pantene Beautiful Lengths (8 inches). Rabbi Bloch started Grow to Give in 2014 after losing yet another member of the synagogue to cancer. All proceeds from the event will go to cancer research. Hairstylists will donate their time to cut hair and provide blowouts to the donors. pantene
In addition, event sponsor, Bauman Medical Group, a hair restoration center for both men and women, will be providing information about how the wigs are made for cancer patients. There will be family activities, including making your own super hero masks, mini manicures, face painting, and much more. DJ Beauty and the Beat will entertain the crowd and play games with the kids, lunch will be available for a $10 donation, and there will be a raffle with amazing prizes for additional donations.
