This report’s lowlights include a bagel place with 17 violations, a Colombian place with 15, and a prominent Italian restaurant in East Boca with 11.
On the bright side, Fresh Bites Cafe in Mission Bay had a perfect inspection with zero violations. California Pizza Kitchen in Town Center did well with just one violation.

Long Island Bagel & Deli in West Boca Square (near Target) was hit with 17 violations including 3 high priority by the inspector. Hand washing seems to be a theme this week.
- Employee handled soiled dishes or utensils and then handled clean dishes or utensils without washing hands. Employee washing dishes handled dirty dishes then handled clean dishes- no handwash. After advising him to wash his hands, he then washed hands properly. **Corrected On-Site**
- Raw animal foods not properly separated from one another based upon minimum required cooking temperature in walk-in cooler. Raw shell eggs stored over raw bacon in WIC. Employee removed and stored properly. **Corrected On-Site** **Repeat Violation**
- Vacuum breaker missing at mop sink faucet or on fitting/splitter added to mop sink faucet. **Repeat Violation**
El Balcon de las Americas was hit with a double whammy. First the bridge work is killing their traffic. And now a bad inspection, with 15 violations, 4 high priority.
- Employee failed to wash hands before changing gloves and/or putting on gloves to work with food. Cook handled soiled utensils then handled RTE sausage- no handwash. After advising employee to wash hands before putting gloves on, employee then washed hands. **Corrected On-Site** **Repeat Violation**
- Raw animal foods not properly separated from one another based upon minimum required cooking temperature in reach-in cooler. Raw chicken stored over raw pork in RIC. Raw sausage stored over mushroom sauce in RIC. Raw sausage stored over pico in RIC. Employee removed all and stored all properly **Corrected On-Site** **Repeat Violation**
- Toxic substance/chemical improperly stored. Spray bottle of glass cleaner stored in kitchen HWS. Employee removed and stored properly. **Corrected On-Site** **Repeat Violation**

Others with 10 or more violations include the Subway in Loggers’ Run (11 violations, 1 high priority – handwashing), Louie Bossi’s on Palmetto east of Federal Highway (11, 2 – handwashing and vacuum breaker), and Pizza Hut on 441 near SW 18th (10, 3 – handwashing, vacuum breaker and spray bottle in wrong place).
Just short of 10 violations – Pei Wei in Westwinds (Glades & 441) with 9 violations, 3 high priority, and Little Caesars on 441 near the Sandalfoot Publix with 8 violations.
Sushi Ray in Boca Center had 5 violations, all minor. Boston Market in Shadowood had 4 minor violations.
Four places had 3 violations each:
- Zinburger in Town Center
- Oliv Pit on SW 18th (we’re told they’re under new management)
- Corner Bakery Cafe near Town Center
- Brio Tuscan Grille in Boca Center
