More Good Restaurant Inspections
For readers who like good news it’s another good week. Nearly all of the restaurants in this week’s report had fewer than 10 violations and most had fewer than 5.
The best result was for a popular place inside Town Center Mall. The worst was a big place in Delray Marketplace, which wasn’t really that bad except for one little thing. More details below:
Chick-Fil-A in Town Center had a perfect inspection this week with zero violations. Not too far behind was the newer Zinger’s Deli in Shadowood, with 2 minor violations.
A couple places we know did pretty well. Shane’s Rib Shack and New York Prime, both near Town Center, had 4 violations each.
Doing a little worse but not terrible were Taverna Kyma, a Greek place on Federal Highway, and the famous Nippers on Military Trail. They each had 7 violations.
The worst numbers in this report were for Cabo Flats in Delray Marketplace. The inspection noted 14 violations with 5 marked high priority:
- Air gap between water supply inlet and flood rim of equipment/sink is less than one inch. At dishwasher
- All potentially hazardous (time/temperature control for safety) foods in reach-in cooler cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Two door flip top cooler on cook line next to hand wash sink at Beef (48-49°F – Cold Holding); Poultry (48-49°F – Cold Holding); burger (48-49°F – Cold Holding); steak (48-49°F – Cold Holding), manager removed all items and called for service
- Dishmachine chlorine sanitizer not at proper minimum strength. Discontinue use of dishmachine for sanitizing and set up manual sanitization until dishmachine is repaired and sanitizing properly. Chlorine at zero ppm, no chlorine sanitizer was connected to machine. Need to use three compartment sink until dish machine is repaired and call for service.
- Rodent activity present as evidenced by rodent droppings found. 1 rodent dropping found at outside patio by street parking.
- Spray bottle with chemical/toxic substance stored near/on/above food preparation surface or food. Blue liquid
Inspector required a follow-up inspection the next day which still showed 4 violations.
