The biggest number this week was for Jon’s Place with 14 violations. Two were high priority involving hand washing and a misplaced bottle of glass cleaner.

Just below that and probably worse was Saito’s in Promenade with 13 violations including 5 marked high priority:

  • Employee touching ready-to-eat food with their bare hands – food was not being heated as a sole ingredient to 145 degrees F or immediately added to other ingredients to be cooked/heated to the minimum required temperature to allow bare hand contact. Establishment has no approved Alternative Operating Procedure. Sushi maker cutting cumbersome with bare hands. Sushi maker instructed to wash hands and put on gloves. **Corrected On-Site**
  • Potentially hazardous (time/temperature control for safety) food cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. dumplings (41-50°F) in flip top cooler at cook line. Dumplings over-stacked above cold holding line. Cook stated dumplings in cooler less than 2 hours and moved over-stacked portion to inside cooler. **Corrective Action Taken**
  • Potentially hazardous (time/temperature control for safety) food identified in the written procedure as a food held using time as a public health control has no time marking and the time removed from temperature control cannot be determined. Sushi rice not marked with time. Sushi maker stated rice made 2 hours ago and marked with time. **Corrected On-Site**
  • Raw animal food stored over or with ready-to-eat food in reach-in freezer – not all products commercially packaged. Raw beef stored over spring rolls in reach in freezer at cook line. Raw beef moved to lower shelf. **Corrected On-Site**
  • Wiping cloth sanitizer solution exceeds the maximum concentration allowed. Chlorine 200ppm. Water added and retested 100ppm. **Corrected On-Site**

Maya Indian near Town Center also had 13 violations and the Cabana Grill inside Boca Woods Country Club had 12 violations.

There were a lot more in Promenade. Silverspot Cinema had 10 violations. Ethos Bistro (one of our favorites there) had 8 violations, as did Mama Asian Noodle Bar next door. World of Beer did better with only 2 violations, though as we recall that place they don’t serve a lot of food and allow other restaurants to serve their outdoor customers.

There’s a smaller plaza “kitty corner” to Promenade with Wingstop (7 minor violations) and Anne Marie’s Pizzeria (6 violations, 4 high priority).

On the bright side two places in Polo Club Shoppes did very well. Pho Boca’s new location there had a perfect inspection with zero violations. Bolay on the opposite side of the plaza was near perfect with just one violation.

Other notables include the Subway in Loggers’ Run with just 3 minor violations, Jimmy John’s on Glades near Home Depot with 5 violations, and what appears to be a new place, Lisa’s Kitchen, near Olive Garden (1 minor violation in a licensing inspection).
