Cocaine Week: Crime Report

October began with multiple cases of cocaine possession in and near the Watergate Estates Trailer Park and Sandalfoot Square. Plus a Loggers’ Run DUI, a love triangle at Wendy’s, a couple of cyberstalking cases, two cases of battery within a relationship, a hit and run DUI, and an attempted murder.

29-year-old Brittany Hill of Watergate Estates Trailer Park was charged with cocaine possession on September 29th. Police had asked to speak with her as she was seen walking around the Sandalfoot and Branch Rd area multiple times. She consented, but seemed shaky and unusually nervous. Police noticed a black backpack that she held very tightly to her chest.

Over time, she became more nervous, but she had told police that she was just tired from work. Police suspected that she had something illegal in that backpack – though this seems a bit dubious in the report – but she said she didn’t. Inside a brown wallet that Hill was holding was a small plastic bag with a white powdery substance, which was later identified as cocaine. Hill said that she used cocaine for stress, but apparently that’s not a valid excuse.

Pro tip: Remain silent and don’t consent to searches. But of course it’s easier to follow that advice if you’re not using drugs.

Dale Cobb (33) of East Boca was charged with a hit and run and DUI on September 29th near the Publix on N. Federal Hwy. An anonymous caller had reported a crash between a Cadillac (Cobb) and a white Jeep and that the Cadillac tried to flee the scene. The victim called 911 and described Cobb as staggering into Publix, and then into a McDonalds, where he exited as soon as he saw the police officer walk in. The accident happened allegedly because Cobb abused the victim’s right of way, causing a collision of her front passengers side. She followed him until he reached the Beehive Kitchen parking lot.

It’s not clear if Cobb really fled the scene as he didn’t go that far. At Boca PD he blew into the Intoxilyzer breath test machine. The first two tests were not close enough to each other to be considered reliable under Florida law. They tested him a third time and tests 2 and 3 were close to each other at just over 0.20.

Another resident of Watergate Estates Trailer Park named Cheyenne Grosse (23) was charged with battery and more. Grosse was reported as extremely intoxicated and was holding her baby when she got into an altercation with her mother. Her mother noticed Grosse arriving back to the mobile home not properly holding her child. The mother then took the child out of Grosse’s hands, which led to a verbal altercation. Counts include battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting with violence, resisting without violence, and criminal mischief. Besides this arrest, she has had a couple traffic infractions cases.

Consquella Green (33) of Boca Raton Hills in East Boca was charged with battery on October 3rd. Police noticed a disturbance near the Tri Rail on Yamato Rd. Green was asked to leave the area but she just yelled and screamed sexual vulgar language toward the victim. Green was asked again but then hit the victim on their head and in the groin area twice. At the booking facility, Green struck and spit on an officer, showing her extreme anger. Additionally, she was on probation for the same offense.

The police affidavit notes a Baker Act proceeding, but we don’t see any case in the system.

Joshua Brown (23) of San Marino at Town Place (off St. Andrews near Town Center Mall) was charged with battery on September 29th. Brown and his boyfriend had a physical altercation about relationship issues after getting home from the mall. Brown had a scratch on the right side of his face and one above his left eye. The boyfriend had a torn shirt, bruising and swelling around his left eye, and blood on his hand and shirt from a nose bleed. Based on the boyfriend’s injuries and the 911 call, police placed Brown under arrest. Neither of them appeared to want the other charged with anything.

Lawrence Andrews (29) of East Boca was charged with cocaine possession on October 2nd in an incident in West Boca. A deputy noticed a silver sedan in the O’Connors Pub parking lot on Sandalfoot Blvd next to Sandalfoot Square. The car was backed into a parking space with the engine running for several minutes, which doesn’t really seem suspicious to us.

The deputy approached and noticed Andrews looking down at his lap. Andrews was looking at a white powdery substance in a plastic bag, later identified as cocaine. When the deputy tapped on the window, Andrews quickly hid the bag, but white powder was still seen on his shorts. A search revealed four more bags of cocaine, in total weighing 2.65 grams. In the past, Andrews had been charged with burglary and selling powder cocaine.

Raed Hamdan (44) of Paraiso (441 south of Palmetto) was charged with homicide on September 30th. Police responded to a shooting/shots fired call at Southeast Collision Center. The 911 caller said the victim was shot in the head. The victim and Hamdan got into a verbal dispute when Hamdan fired several shots in the head and torso areas. Hamdan did not assist the victim but only changed his shirt and made a phone call.

At the police department, Hamdan said the victim owed him money for a vehicle towed a week before the incident. The victim, supposedly, verbally abused him and attacked Hamdan’s car; during this altercation, Hamdan pulled out his firearm. Security cameras showed that the victim did not abuse the vehicle. Hamdan is charged with attempted second degree murder with a firearm.

As we read the police affidavit it looks like Hamdan has some argument for self defense. It’s hard to say whether he has enough.

Peter Vareles (46) of Timberwalk in Loggers’ Run (Judge Winikoff Rd) was charged with a DUI on October 4th. An officer was exiting the Loggers Run Plaza when another vehicle turned too quickly, almost striking the officer’s car. The vehicle, a black Toyota, had an expired tag; the officer then initiated a traffic stop. As the officer approached the car, there was a strong smell of alcohol. Vareles was told to step out of the car but lost stability and had to lean on the car for support. Additionally, Vareles had blood shot eyes and slurred speech. Police also found in Vareles’ car a plastic bag with cocaine.

Vareles refused to perform field sobriety exercises and refused a breath test as well.

Wendy’s employee Mikayla Jean Mary (21) of East Boca was charged with domestic battery on September 29th. Police responded to a disturbance at the burger chain on Federal Highway. The “victim”, another Wendy’s worker, and his girlfriend, Jean Mary, had an argument over him cheating on her with a friend – also a Wendy’s worker.

Jean Mary arrived to the Wendy’s to talk with the friend and her boyfriend had followed her. Mikayla had become aggressive when the boyfriend tried to bring her back home. She apparently slapped him on the face. Prior to the slapping, Jean Mary was yelling at her friend saying she was going to beat her. The friend said she didn’t see any slapping, but witnesses said otherwise. Police ended up arresting her for domestic battery.

The chicken nuggets were extra spicy that day my friend.
