Great Week for Restaurants
Two West Boca restaurants at Glades & 441 had perfect inspections, and no inspection reported more than 9 violations. That’s a very good week.
Chipotle in Westwinds (the Home Depot plaza) and Teriyaki Madness in Mission Bay both had perfect inspections this week – zero violations.
The Burger King on Glades near Boca Rio was near-perfect with one minor violation.
There was a licensing inspection for the new Ganzo Sushi (and Ramen) which says they’re opening this Saturday November 23rd.
Their inspection had 3 violations, one high priority: “Vacuum breaker missing at mop sink faucet or on fitting/splitter added to mop sink faucet.”
In the less than spectacular category, Flakowitz in East Boca had 9 violations, 4 marked high priority:
- Employee ( Dishwasher) handled soiled dishes or utensils and then handled clean dishes or utensils without washing hands. Employee washed hands.
- Employee touching ready-to-eat food with their bare hands – food was not being heated as a sole ingredient to 145 degrees F or immediately added to other ingredients to be cooked/heated to the minimum required temperature to allow bare hand contact. Establishment has no approved Alternative Operating Procedure. Server handling bagel after toasting with her bare hands. Paper used as barrier. **Corrected On-Site**
- Potentially hazardous (time/temperature control for safety) food cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Over stacked tomatoes 46F at cookline flip top cooler next to fryer. Over stack removed and placed in cooler to quick chill. **Corrective Action Taken**
- Potentially hazardous (time/temperature control for safety) food hot held at less than 135 degrees Fahrenheit or above. Sausage 112F on top shelf of stove. Placed directly on grill. **Corrective Action Taken**
Ramen Lab Eatery (one of our favorites in East Boca) had 7 violations, 5 high priority including fairly common food temperature, storage, and hand cleaning issues.
Santo’s Buffet on 441 in Coconut Creek had 6 violations, 3 high priority.
