Short Week for Inspections
Due to the short work week, our latest spreadsheet has only 14 restaurant inspections and none of them were in West Boca. All the inspections were in East Boca, Coconut Creek and Margate.
Nothing terrible this week and nothing great. Details for paid subscribers below.
It’s not that bad, but the worst inspection this week was for La Pizzeria in Margate. It’s a place we have been to a few times and we like it, in a plaza off Sample near 441.
They had 8 violations, 4 high priority including:
- Dented/rusted cans present. See stop sale. #10 whole red roasted pepper. #10 sliced black olives.
- Employee handled soiled dishes or utensils and then handled clean dishes or utensils without washing hands. Dishwasher used gloves to put dirty dish in machine then removed clean dishes with our hand washing.
- Food-contact surfaces not sanitized after cleaning, before use. Do not use equipment/utensils not properly sanitized. Dishes are being dried with whipping cloth. Reviewed with dishwasher to air dry.
- Potentially hazardous (time/temperature control for safety) food cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. cheese (57°F); lasagna (54°F); cooked chicken wing (54°F) middle reach in cooler. Ambient of unit 45°F. Per cook food was placed in unit at 11:00am food was moved to different unit. **Corrective Action Taken**
In East Boca, Flashback Diner and Cafe Argento – both on Federal Highway – had 7 violations with 4 high priority each. At both of them it was mostly food storage and temperature issues.
M.E.A.T. Eatery and Taproom had 4 violations, 1 high priority.
The Wow Factory on Lyons in Coconut Creek had 3 minor violations.
