It’s mostly men this week with a variety of incidents including DUI, drugs, theft, and burglary. Father of a local celebrity injured in a hit-and-run. Two incidents in or related to Royal Palm Yacht Club. And a popular West Boca pub gets a mention, again.
Boca High and Olympic Heights students may be involved but we were not able to confirm any school affiliations.
As an update to a previous report, Boca PD sent us a report from the arrest of Hermenegildo Juan. According to the report, he stole a woman’s Ford Taurus from the BP car wash and crashed it into another car and into the BP gas station building, all on Yamato Road in East Boca. In the process he also hit a person who was taken to Delray Medical Center with a subdural brain bleed. It appears from court papers that the injured victim is Frank Kaman, 68, of Delray Beach. He might be the father of singer Michaela Paige who gained some fame on the TV show The Voice in 2012.
It is our understanding that Mr. Kaman is recovering, but we aren’t sure how well he is doing.
Mr. Juan attempted to run from Boca PD but was detained and taken to the emergency room. He was an employee of the gas station and as he tells the story he was trying to move the car and accidentally hit the gas instead of the brakes.
Since he has no drivers license, Juan is charged with felony driving without a license causing serious injury, and also felony hit and run. Juan is a Guatemalan citizen.
Our first incident is an odd and small one. Vincent Petrillo (51) and his wife Stephanie Soeder (49) are husband and wife. This is about a Broward County case where they’re accused of stealing less than $100 from the Walmart in Coconut Creek.
It came to our attention when Vincent was picked up on a warrant from another county. The Broward record doesn’t show this arrest, so it’s possible he’s got another case somewhere.
He does have a prior case in Palm Beach County for leaving the scene of an accident. They live together in Sandalfoot South.
18-year-old Kensen Telfort of East Boca was arrested for burglary of a car. As the police affidavit describes it, Telfort was driving with two minor passengers, one with the same last name.
They drove down Azalea Street (north of Palmetto near Boca Regional Hospital) at night with the lights out. The two passengers would get out and try the doors on cars in driveways.
Telfort, a US citizen born in Haiti, also admitted to driving on a license he knew was suspended. He and his passengers may be Boca High students but we were not able to confirm that.
Larenz Allain (25) of Boca Lago was arrested for disorderly intoxication and resisting without violence. The incident took place on Atlantic in East Delray at 1st Avenue.
Sounds like a fun time was had by all.
We see no prior history for Mr. Allain.
Neil Gentles (44) of East Boca was arrested in front of the Publix at Federal Highway and Camino Real. A witness called police saying Gentles “was waving a knife and acting crazy.”
Police found a Farberware knife with a 3 1/2 inch blade concealed in his waistband. Asked if he had a license to carry a concealed weapon, Gentles responded that he was an undercover agent.
He was charged with a misdemeanor for carrying a concealed weapon without a license. He failed to appear for a supervision orientation after his release and there is an open warrant for his arrest.
We see no priors in Palm Beach County but he had a 2015 arrests for felony robbery with a firearm in Broward (dropped) and some possible history in Miami-Dade.
Dominick Simiele (25, Southwind Lakes) was arrested for DUI by deputies after a crash on Glades Road. Simiele registered 0.000 on breath testing and then refused a urine test. This could create issues for the prosecution since the arresting deputy suspected alcohol and then there was no alcohol.
Simiele was arrested for a marijuana felony in 2018. So one might guess he feared a urine test because it could show marijuana, or other drugs. It can be a challenge for the prosecution to prove to a jury that a specific level of any drug caused impairment, so it’s better in some circumstances to agree to the test. It is a good idea to get your own blood test as soon as you’ve been released from police custody if you’re ever in this situation.
42 year old Tory Davis of East Boca was arrested for drugs. He has an FDLE record, below:
His latest arrests took place at the county jail in December and January, based on incidents from September in East Boca. Davis allegedly sold fentanyl, a narcotic, to a confidential informant who was in an undercover police vehicle driven by an undercover detective. That one took place at at the Dixie Manor Housing Project. In two other incidents he sold “n-butyl pentylone” directly to the same undercover detective at a Mobil Station on Dixie Highway.
The arrests were delayed in part to wait for chemical tests, and probably to protect both the informant and the detective.
Ricardo Guimaraes (54, Pines at Boca Barwood) was arrested for DUI after police observed him driving southbound in the northbound lanes of St. Andrews Blvd.
Guimaraes was born in Brazil and is a US citizen. When police asked him where he was coming from he said Brazil, which could be a language issue rather than a sign of intoxication.
Three breath tests showed blood-alcohol levels of 0.188, 0.199 and 0.203. While the variation creates potential concerns, it meets the legal requirement of being within 0.02 of each other. Since they occurred in that order a creative defense lawyer c0uld argue the BAC was rising and was legal when he was arrested. It doesn’t seem likely to succeed though.
We see no priors for Mr. Guimaraes, at least not in our county.
42-year-old Bradley Dyer of the Royal Palm Yacht Club was arrested for attempting to strangle his girlfriend at her gorgeous home in the Florida Fruit Lands subdivision between Saturnia and the new Berkeley development.
The incident followed an argument about money where she accused him of not contributing financially. Dyer is the president of Oscar Bravo Media, which does some kind of marketing to the private jet community. His reported address in the yacht club is a very expensive house though he does not appear to be the owner. It’s possible his business is not successful.
We see no priors for Dyer. His 2018 divorce was finalized in September 2019.
Delmi Barrera (24, Paradise Palms) was arrested for cocaine, though the case was dropped fairly quickly. It’s not clear why the case was dropped. It looks like a valid stop (illegal U-turn on Clint Moore) and Barrera admitted to possessing cocaine.
We see no priors for him.
James Enrique Cruz (26, Sandalfoot Cove) was arrested on what looks like a warrant from Broward for domestic violence. We see several priors for him in Broward. The victim refused to give a statement at the time of arrest, though she said Cruz had forced her down causing her to hit the tile floor and she was bleeding from her injuries.
Leilani Vaglica (57, East Boca) was arrested for DUI in Royal Palm Yacht Club. She registered nearly 0.19 on breath testing.
Vaglica was born in California. We see no priors for her. It’s not clear why she was inside the neighborhood.
18-year-old Elizabeth Pino was arrested for drugs and carrying a concealed firearm. The resident of Greenbriar (a 55+ community in Boca Chase) was stopped by Boca PD near Boca Regional Hospital with an improper license plate.
The driver, Cedric Timmer, was eventually arrested for marijuana possession. During a search of the vehicle police found a backpack with a Glock 17 handgun. Police also charged her with marijuana possession, possession with intent to sell, and possession of Hashish.
We see no priors for her. Her address and age would make her an Olympic Heights student or recent alumna.
Zachary Devecchis (31, Watergate Estates) was arrested for failing to appear on a pending Driving Under Suspension charge. That charge resulted from a prior DUI case. We see no other priors for him.
Alan Avalos (31) of Sandalfoot Cove was arrested for possession of heroin, another drug, paraphernalia, and driving with a suspended license. Deputies already had a search warrant but saw him driving and engaging in “hand to hand transactions”. The deputies knew his license was suspended and that he had been previously arrested for driving while suspended.
Avalos has multiple prior cases. He does not have an FDLE record. Not yet at least.
O’Connor’s Pub in Sandalfoot keeps making it into our crime reports. This time it’s for Alvaro Rodriguez (45) of the Casa Nueva apartments in Boca Del Mar.
Deputies observed him run a stop sign and then park at O’Connors not long after midnight. After the deputies approached the vehicle Rodriguez appeared to be hiding something. The Colombian citizen admitted his license was suspended. A search of the vehicle resulted in 0.6 grams of cocaine. He admitted paying $50 for it.
We see a 2006 DUI in his record, but nothing else.
