Domestic Drunks and Guns: Crime Report

Ten crime incidents to report in our latest including domestic violence, drunk driving, a concealed weapon, child abuse and a couple warrants. Communities include Boca Chase, Century Village, Arbor Oaks, Sandalfoot Cove, Watergate Estates, and Boca Del Mar.

Brittney Kelemen was stopped by an off-duty deputy sheriff working security for Boca Chase. The basis for the stop seems weak – “sound of a flat tire.”

The stop took place sometime after 4 am.

Remember – Nothing good happens after 2 am.

Kelemen registered about 0.16 on breath testing, about double the legal limit. She may have an excellent defense by moving for suppression of the traffic stop, but so far no lawyer has appeared on her case.

We see no prior arrests for Ms. Kelemen. The 21-year-old was born in New Jersey and until recently lived in Davie. Her current address is on Clear Brook Circle.

Adam Herzog (28, Boca Del Mar) was arrested on a warrant from Broward for a pending felony charge. He’s accused in that case of reckless driving, driving while suspended habitual (felony), leavin the scene of a property damage crash, and aggravated assault on law enforcement officers.

The officer’s description is better than we could do if we rewrote it.

Herzog has an extensive record including a state prison stint.

Maria Salazar (43, Thornhill Lake in Boca Del Mar) was arrested for battery on a police officer during an incident in the Tiburon II subdivision.

Deputies were called to the scene for a 911 call allegedly by Ms. Salazar. When deputies arrived she invited them in and then “suddenly became uncooperative.”

She told them to leave her home and they refused. She then pushed a deputy toward the door and “began to flail, kick and attempted to pull away” when the other deputy tried to arrest her for battery on the first deputy.

It’s not clear to us whether or not she had the right to use force to get the deputies to leave her home. The case will probably resolve without extensive litigation.

We do see multiple priors for Ms. Salazar including domestic incidents and driving under suspension.

Steven Rivers (age 24) was arrested by Boca PD at the Tri-Rail station after security wanted him trespassed for walking on the tracks. Officers approached him and he allegedly told them they could go through their pockets … where they found a relatively low-power handgun (.25 caliber). Rivers did not have a concealed carry license so he was arrested for carrying concealed without a license.

Born in Miami, Rivers identified himself as homeless and said he carries the gun for self-protection. We see no priors for him.

40 year old Nichole Denome White of Watergate Estates was arrested in the village of Royal Palm after a fight with her sister. Nichole apparently has suffered from schizophrenia for over 30 years. If you think you have problems in your life, read this description from Nichole’s mom.

We see only an old criminal traffic violation for her, but there may be other cases we don’t see.

Darren Ferger (43, Sandalfoot Cove) was arrested on a warrant from another county but we did not find out which county. He has a history of multiple traffic violations and some old felonies, but no FDLE record.

Maritza Lozada Pinillos (65, Mansfield in Century Village) was arrested for domestic battery and fleeing a law enforcement officer. This was their second visit of the night to that unit. After the first visit Pinillos allegedly attacked her husband, hitting him five times with an open and closed hand.

Pinillos had already left the scene, allegedly intoxicated, and refused to stop for police as she headed into Broward. The arrest circumstances are unclear but it looks like they picked her up two days later.

We see a prior domestic battery in Broward but no others.

55-year-old Guy Collichio of Gables Town Place was arrested for child abuse and domestic battery. The Boca PD affidavit is heavily redacted but it appears he is accused of some violence against his girlfriend and the girlfriend’s daughter.

For his part, he denied any violence and was just upset about his clothes being thrown out of the apartment.

He had a driving while suspended case in 2019.

In another incident involving Clear Brook Circle, Kris Marinos (age 56) of that street was arrested after midnight at Biergarten in East Boca. He allegedly shoved a woman and then hit her boyfriend in the head with a beer mug.

We see no priors for Mr. Marinos.

Matthew Garcia, 18, of Arbor Oaks (apartments north of West Boca Medical Center) was arrested for domestic battery after “side-kicking” his father in the stomach during an argument.

We see no priors for Garcia.
