Chabad West Boca to Host Memorial Commemoration for October 7th, 2023 Victims on First Year Anniversary
On October 7th, 2023, the world witnessed one of the darkest days in Israel’s recent history, when over 1,200 innocent lives were lost in a horrific attack. To honor the victims and their families, Chabad of West Boca will host a memorial service on October 7th, 2024, marking the first anniversary of the tragedy.
The October 7th attack was a coordinated assault on Israel that left the nation in mourning. Civilians, soldiers, and children were among those brutally killed in a shocking act of violence. This commemoration will offer the community a place to gather in reflection and remembrance, while standing in solidarity with the families affected and the global Jewish community.
The centerpiece of the event will be the unveiling of a Torah Ark Memorial Curtain, which will bear the names of more than 1,200 victims, a poignant reminder of the immense loss. Through this tribute, the event will transform grief into collective remembrance.
The memorial will also include a keynote address by IDF counter-terrorism advisor Yair Ansbacher. Yair was among the first fighters to arrive at the Gaza border on October 7th. He and his comrades were assigned the difficult task of protecting Kibbutz Nir Yitzchak in what was the longest day of his life.
The evening will be enhanced by a candlelight musical performance by renowned singer Shlomo Simcha Sufrin, supported by a live pianist.
