Local Teen Golfer wins at Underrated Golf Tour
Local Boca Raton teen golfer, Catherine (CJ) Andino, just won the girl’s division of the recent South Bend, Indiana, tour stop on Steph Curry’s UNDERRATED Golf Tour.
Curry founded UNDERRATED Golf to provide equity, access, and opportunity to student-athletes from every community by balancing participation in the sport to truly reflect our society. The mission is to increase the participation of competitive golfers from diverse backgrounds and to engage corporate partners for mentoring, networking, and visibility. So far, the UNDERRATED Golf Tour has supported 20 student-athletes in receiving college golf scholarships and helped one alumnus achieve their dream of becoming a professional golfer.
Andino secured a close victory, one-under par, at Warren Golf Course at Notre Dame University in South Bend, IN. She recently finished second in both the Florida Junior Tour Major Tournament and American Jr Golf Association Moon Golf Junior All-Star Tournament. Andino also won the South Florida PGA Jr. Tour Player of the Year award in 2021.
At each tour stop, 96 male and female qualifiers participate in tournament play and team-building activities while networking with coaches, golf executives, and sponsors. Ultimately, 12 boys and 12 girls will emerge to compete for the Curry Cup Championship.
