The Symphonia Announces February Concert Weekend
The Symphonia of Boca Raton will have a weekend full of musical festivities around the February Connoisseur Concert. On February 20th at 1 p.m., the festive musical weekend will begin with Tea & Symphony at The Polo Club. The event, presented by The Allegro Society, will include a buffet luncheon during which guest conductor Alexander Pratt will discuss the pieces to be played at the Sunday concert, along with a short performance by the soloists, violinist Gareth Johnson and violist Scott O’Donnell. Tickets are $35 per person.
On Saturday, February 21st from 10:30 a.m. to noon, children can “Meet the Orchestra.” Families can attend a dress rehearsal and meet the Conductor and musicians at intermission. Kids will learn about the instruments at an “Instrument Petting Zoo” and discover how music inspires creativity. “Meet the Orchestra” will be held at the Roberts Theater at Saint Andrews School, 3900 Jog Road in Boca Raton. There will be a 30 minute Pre-Concert Conversation on February 22nd at 2 p.m. There will be an opportunity to learn more about the pieces to be performed during the Connoisseur Concert. There is no additional charge to attend the conversation with the purchase of a ticket. The conversation will be held at the Roberts Theater at Saint Andrews School.
The weekend will culminate with the Connoisseur Concert on Sunday, February 22nd at 3 p.m. at the Roberts Theater. Composers to be featured at the concert include Barber, Haydn and Beethoveen. The program will include Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 1, Mozarts Sinfonia Concertante for violin and viola, K. 364, Glass’s Company and Bizet’s Symphony in C Major.
