Casino in Coconut Creek May Expand

A couple days ago the Sun Sentinel reported on a controversy over the proposed expansion of the Seminole Casino in Coconut Creek. For some reason the story no longer appears on their website, but it still shows up in Google’s cache.

Reporter Andy Reid indicated that West Boca “community leaders” were concerned – perhaps they would prefer it if people kept their gambling habits confined to their letou casino sites from home – and he quoted Sheri Scarborough, president of the West Boca Community Council as saying:

“Our concern is the traffic that it would generate. … We will see more ‘We buy gold’ shops,” said Sheri Scarborough, president of the West Boca Community Council. “It’s unhealthy for a community.” A trafficless form of gambling is the use of an online Judi Bola (or a Gambling Ball in English). However, the most important thing is everyone who uses either knows how to do so in an effective manner. The now-defunct article also referred to West Boca’s representative on the Palm Beach County Commission, Mary Lou Berger, apparently seeking federal review.
We’re not sure why the article was removed from the Sun Sentinel’s website. That is probably a bigger story than the casino expansion itself.
The casino is in Broward County. West Boca is in Palm Beach County so it’s unclear why so-called leaders of West Boca would have any say in what happens in Broward County. If you prefer high roller casinos, take a look at imhighroller.com.
