Arrest Week: The Moral of the Story Is …
Reminder: All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty.
Show up! For cryin’ out loud, don’t skip your court date.
At least three of the four arrestees above had rotten days because they didn’t show up to court on minor cases.
Philip Shirazi (above left, 21, resides near Del Prado Elementary) was facing the incredibly minor charge of having an open house party. We’re not even sure that’s illegal. But because he didn’t show up to a court date on March 6th a capias warrant was issued. He spent over 12 hours in police custody, mostly on the morning of Thursday the 17th. Show up!
Kiley Carpenter (2nd from left, 29, Spanish River grad who resides near Boca Greens) had tickets for expired license, failing to display registration (the cop bothered to write this ticket?), and not showing proof of insurance. A capias was issued and she enjoyed the confines of PBSO custody for roughly 14 hours, mostly on Friday morning. Show up!
Joseph Morgan Szarf (3rd from left, 27) had similar tickets – expired registration, not carrying or exhibiting his drivers license, some kind of problem with the license plate and no proof of insurance. The Spanish River grad and Symphony Bay resident missed a court date on March 25th, and spent almost all of Friday in custody. That had to be unpleasant. Show up!
Slightly different, Nicholas Connolly (far right, 23, Country Landing in Loggers Run) was picked up on Wednesday on an “out of county warrant”. Some details of a warrant from Okeechobee County are in the adjacent image, something about violation of a court order. This was a “catch and release” – they held him for about 14 hours until they got a hold of someone in Okeechobee who said they didn’t want him and released him. It’s a little different from just showing up, but you need to make sure any warrants against you are cleared. Don’t ignore court dates or warrants.
Casey Harrington (above left, 23) of Palmetto Pines (south of Palmetto across from Boca Woods) was arrested on Thursday on two counts of burglary. The West Boca grad remains in custody for now, held on $3000 bond. He has a lengthy history of mostly traffic tickets dating back to 2006, with a few relatively minor criminal charges.
Steven Tash (above right, 53) was arrested by Delray Beach police and booked early Friday morning accused of grand theft and driving with a suspended license. His reported address is in the Polo Club (near Military Trail and Clint Moore) and he may work in the supplements industry.
Ryan Tesauro (center, 28) was booked Saturday morning for DUI and also “hit and run,” leaving the scene of a property damage accident. His reported address is in Boca Isles South. He was released after roughly 6 hours in custody. We don’t have full information, but the circumstances of leaving the scene may make it difficult to prove a DUI case. Tesauro has had a string of mostly traffic cases dating back to 2004. It looks like he’s an Olympic Heights graduate.
Darryl Vereen (right, 29) of the Boca Rio Townhomes shows up as having been arrested Thursday for “failure to appear.” However, it looks from the court records that he was scheduled to turn himself in on a case where he’d already been found guilty of driving with a suspended or revoked license, and that in doing so his 15-day sentence would be reduced to 4 days. He has a lengthy history with nearly 40 cases (almost all traffic) over the past 10 years or so. Even worse, he may work in telemarketing.
