Crime Report – First Full Week 2019
We’re getting back into local crime reporting. Because of the sensitive nature of these reports, most of it will be content for paid subscribers only.
Below are details on 18 incidents with threats, drugs, sexual assault, child cruelty, drugged driving, violence, and more. People involved include a woman from St. Andrews Country Club, a man from Lexington Estates, young people connected to West Boca High, Olympic Heights and Spanish River as well. And of course, a raid in the Sandalfoot trailer park.
This week we will start with Jill Hoffman who made the local papers after she was accused of threatening a mass shooting at a PBSO event.
We posted about this earlier in the week on our Facebook page. Ms. Hoffman sent numerous messages to PBSO that were deemed threatening. We asked our readers and they agreed.
We do not see any criminal history for Ms. Hoffman, a resident of Boca Pointe. It appears to us, and to many of our readers, that she has a mental health problem that will hopefully be addressed.
Child Cruelty in Palmetto Pines
Joseph Baiardi was arrested on felony child cruelty charges. The probable cause report indicates Baiardi punched an unidentified 15-year-old in the face. The report has a lot redacted and it appears the attack took place in an apartment. It shows Baiardi’s address on the west side of Palmetto Pines.
We didn’t find any recent criminal history but he did have a domestic battery charge in 2005 that was eventually dismissed, and a felony DUI in Broward in 2006.
Drug Cases
The Sandalfoot trailer park, aka Watergate Estates, had some drug arrests this week.
Robert Derespina, Deegan Faron, and Noah Tucker were all arrested with the same address reported in the blotter. Tucker was booked a day earlier.
Derespina and Faron were each charged with possession of marijuana, other drugs, and drug equipment after deputies searched the trailer based on a warrant. Tucker was arrested the day before for failure to appear on a pending drug case. One might think that Tucker said something during his arrest 12 hours before the warrant search was executed, but that’s only a guess.
We don’t see any criminal history for any of these three. Faron and Tucker are not yet 20 years old. Faron may still be an Olympic Heights student and Tucker apparently went there. Derespina may have attended West Boca High.
Jonathan Corbitt was arrested by PBSO. This one’s a little odd since the warrant and arrest were at an address in the FAU ghetto in East Boca, an area normally covered by Boca PD. This suggests it’s part of a larger PBSO investigation. Everything found was marijuana or THC-derived products.
We think this is the same Jonathan Corbitt who played baseball at Jupiter High, Palm Beach State, Lynn University, and then in Virginia’s Valley League for the Covington Lumberjacks. However, we are not able to verify that.
Devin Jackson of East Boca was arrested for cocaine possession on the 8th and booked on the 9th. Police also found a small amount of marijuana in his possession but did not charge him with that. We see no criminal history for him.
Joseph Morgado was arrested on the 7th on marijuana, hash oil, and drug equipment charges. He previously faced a felony robbery charge in 2016, and multiple misdemeanors from 2012 to 2015. We think Joey is a Spanish River High grad.
DUI Cases
The DUI Drug cases are often iffy and this is another one. Robyn Langley of St. Andrews Country Club allegedly rear-ended another car on Palmetto Park Road in East Boca. She also registered 0.000 on the breath test and voluntarily gave a urine sample. Police found pills and marijuana oil in the car as well. She asserted she has prescriptions for them but they charged her with possession anyway.
Langley had a minor criminal traffic charge in 2013.
Battery Cases
Aidong Yin of Lexington Estates was arrested for battery. As typical for battery cases we see, this was a domestic incident. This was a push and injuries were very minor. We see no criminal history for Mr. Yin.
Trisha Ebert of East Boca was also arrested for domestic battery, hitting a man outside their home as a Boca police officer drove by and watched. Both parties said alcohol was involved. From the report the man appeared to downplay the incident, but Ebert was arrested anyway.
Sandra Valle-Gomez of Boca Del Mar was arrested for domestic battery. Reading the police report it looks like she called the police out of concern that the victim might harm himself, and somehow this led to her arrest because the victim had a scratch on his face. This one will probably be dismissed quickly.
Vytenis Rimkus was arrested in yet another domestic battery case. He resides in the Boca Bend apartments in Sandalfoot Cove. His wife called the police and accused him of slapping her. He was drinking. Mr. Rimkus has had two felony drug cases in Broward in the past 6 years.
Miscellaneous
Edward Trostin of Boca Del Mar was arrested on a Broward warrant. He has a grand theft case pending there and failed to show up for a court date in December. Don’t skip court kids.
Corin Adderley of Arbor Oaks was arrested after being accused of making false statements for a crash report. Deputies found him at an accident scene. He denied being the driver and said another guy was driving. That guy denied being the driver. According to the police report Adderley was the owner of the car, but had no valid drivers license and was under suspension for a prior DUI. He was identified by his Bahamas passport. This is an interesting one – it’s not clear how easily the prosecution will be able to prove Adderley was driving, if he was.
Last in our report is Hunter Novak of East Boca, arrested on an out-of-state warrant. Court files show this was for a sexual assault case in Camden, New Jersey. The Palm Beach Post reports Novak is a chiropractor here in Boca and also in New Jersey. We see no criminal history for Dr. Novak.
