Drugs and Homicide: Boca Women in Crime Week
Details on the young Boca woman charged with vehicular manslaughter, a false imprisonment in Mission Bay, and much more. Other neighborhoods mentioned in this week’s report include Century Village, Boca Landings, Meadow Lakes, Town Harbour, Gables, Alister apartments and the Watergate Estates trailer park.
21-year-old Andrea Nicole Schneider has had a bad run in the last few years. The latest is her arrest for DUI vehicular manslaughter after an March 2019 accident in Deerfield Beach. We wrote about the accident in early April on our Facebook page.
The probable cause affidavit is not available on the Broward court website yet. In a press release BSO indicated that Schneider was driving a Dodge Avenger at a high rate of speed with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit. Oddly they didn’t say what the level was.
Two females were killed in the accident, a teen and her grandmother both from Coral Springs.
Palm Beach court records show 17 case for Schneider including three separate felonies. Broward shows another 5 cases including the new one, along with a felony driving while suspended case from 2018.
As usual for South Florida, she faced little or no consequences for her numerous past offenses, leaving her free to cause this serious accident.
Michael Kranz (32) of the Harbour Springs subdivision of Mission Bay was arrested for what looked like kidnapping in the blotter but turns out to be false imprisonment and battery.
His girlfriend took her things and was leaving the house after breaking up with him when he pushed her, flung her down, and held the door closed to keep her from leaving. He denied the allegations.
Boca High alum Scott MacDonald (22) of SW 18th Street in East Boca was arrested for several counts of burglary. Boca PD observed MacDonald around 4 am checking car doors in driveways and entering the cars.
It all went south when he opened the car door of one of the unmarked police cars that was watching him.
He faces 6 counts of regular burglary plus a higher count of burglary to an occupied car (the unmarked police car), and a 7th burglary count was added a few days later but the paperwork for that is not available yet.
He’s had some tickets in the past including a criminal traffic charge for driving without a license when he was 14 years old.
Crystal Voland (40) of East Boca was arrested on Federal Highway for DUI after she rear-ended a car at a traffic light. She refused a breath test, which in her case is a crime since she has a prior conviction for DUI and refusing a breath test from 2015. She has also had a few domestic battery arrests.
Wilson Moncada (41) of the Mizner Park apartments was arrested in Delray for felony driving while suspended with 6 prior convictions, including one in Palm Beach County last year.
Moncada had two felony drug cases in Miami in 1997. The blotter also indicates he was also arrested on a warrant for another county but we don’t see anything on that in the court file.
31 year old Kyle Flanagan of Boca Landings did not handle his arrest well. Taken into custody for domestic battery – his wife had a bloody nose according to deputies – court notes indicate he “was disruptive and had to be restrained twice.” Judge Sheree Cunningham filed a new criminal contempt case, found him guilty, and sentenced him to 5 months and 29 days in the county jail.
That seems a bit harsh, especially when Flanagan was not represented by an attorney yet. On the other hand as we previously noted in February, Flanagan has quite a record including a 5-year prison sentence for burglary and grand theft.
The best name of the week goes to Paris Pierce, age 25 from Sanctuary Pines in East Boca. She was arrested for DUI by Boca PD.
The FAU grad works locally as a sales rep. She may have been a bikini model in the past, or should have been. She did work at The Tilted Kilt until March.
She was stopped before midnight on Federal Highway for driving without headlights. The station breath test was roughly 0.19, more than double the legal limit.
We see no criminal history for her, other than a few traffic tickets.
British-born Tristan Crouch (19) recently graduated from high school in Massachusetts and moved to Alister apartments in Boca with his girlfriend (age 18). She seems to have rethought this plan after he was charged with felony battery for choking her.
The incident was witnessed by her friend from Coral Springs, and Crouch admitted to touching and grabbing her. A few days later she publicly thanked her family for getting her out of the situation she was in.
This one comes without a mugshot for some reason. Mr.Osama Suleiman (30) of Boca Dunes was arrested on an out-of-state warrant, then released a couple days later.
PBSO advises the warrant was for “State of New Jersey, Hudson CO, charges: Theft by unlawful taking movable property.”
“Released by tty” suggests to us that the NJ prosecutors decided not to extradite him, but we’re not sure about that. We don’t know what it was about but we found this recent story about a cargo theft ring from the same area with a defendant named Soliman. They’re probably unrelated.
This is an interesting one for those who question the DUI system. Oskar Piedras Cufino is a 21 year old resident of the Arium apartments near Glades and Powerline. He was arrested at FAU for DUI after callers reported him “driving in circles, spinning tires, and speeding.”
The arresting officer performed “field sobriety” tests and used that as the basis for arrest. But Cufino registered 0.00 on the breath test. He admitted to smoking marijuana. Field sobriety tests are designed for alcohol, not marijuana. At least some courts have ruled the tests are irrelevant.
So the prosecution might be able to prove Cufino had marijuana in his system but they may have trouble proving he was impaired by it.
Jose Oller of the Gables Town Place apartments near Town Center was arrested outside of Nippers Sports Bar (by Strikes Bowling) after he allegedly threw a drink on one female bartender and threw a mug at another, hitting her and causing an injury. The 32-year-old Oller may have been drunk. We see no criminal history for him.
Paige Sloman (35, East Boca) was arrested for stealing gift cards from the Tommy Bahama store in Delray where she worked. We see no criminal history for her. The value stolen was high enough to make it a felony.
Robert Bruno (30, East Boca) was arrested for felony aggravated battery on his visibly pregnant girlfriend. He allegedly grabbed her by the hair, pushed her to the ground, and slapped and punched her the head.
We see no prior history in this county, but he’s had some drug-related cases in Broward and the blotter indicates he was also arrested on an out-of-county warrant though that doesn’t appear to be for Broward.
22 year old Melissa Fox of Watergate Estates was arrested on a Broward warrant for violating probation. She left a residential drug treatment program without permission from her probation officer. This comes from a 2017 arrest for grand theft. We see no other history for her.
She might be a West Boca High grad, current or former student at Palm Beach State, and current or former entertainer at Scores Palm Beach.
Also from Watergate Estates, Joseph Spataro was arrested on a Broward warrant. This was from a ordinance violation for sleeping on a bus stop bench. Doesn’t seem like a sensible use of resources, but what do we know?
Sam Stumpf (21, East Boca) was arrested for selling heroin to an undercover Delray PD officer at the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Federal Highway in southeast Delray.
We think he’s a Boca High grad. He’s had a couple previous felony arrests and may have been an asshole from a young age.
David Deverman Jr. (40, East Boca) was arrested for DUI causing property damage. PBSO was investigating an accident where a car left the scene. They found Deverman not far away in a damaged car matching the description. He was taken to a hospital where he refused a blood draw.
So far he has not been charged with leaving the scene. We’re not sure why.
He’s had a few minor criminal cases in our courts, but nothing recent until this latest case.
Don’t punch a bus driver. Anthony Anderson (27, East Boca) may have learned this lesson. He was riding Palm Trans and apparently was upset that an old man got a senior discount so he punched the driver, a 40-year-old black woman, and ran off. The driver was injured and required medical treatment.
Boca PD put his photo out and another bus driver spotted him a few days later, leading to this arrest. Punching a bus driver appears to be a felony.
With such a common name, we can’t be sure about his criminal history.
Thomas Nava (59, East Boca) was arrested on a slew of grand theft and forgery counts. It all started in Century Village in 2015 where Nava befriended a woman, helped with some handyman tasks, and then stole a couple of her checkbooks and cashed a total of 41 checks at local banks. This amounted to thousands of dollars from the victim.
A warrant was issued but was unable to be served initially. The circumstances aren’t clear but it appears he was arrested by Jupiter PD on the warrant. He remains in custody at the moment. He hired a lawyer who moved for a reduction in bail. That motion was denied. We think the total bail amount is close to $90,000.
Nava had a felony retail theft arrest in 2016 that was reduced and resolved. He had a few driving while suspended cases before that.
Our last case involves Daniel Etta (40) of SW 3rd in Sandalfoot Cove. He was arrested on a Broward warrant for stalking and burglary. Allegedly he was angry at the female victim for stealing his girlfriend.
In an April incident he banged on the victim’s window, sent her threatening text messages (“Today you die”). In a phone call with Margate PD Etta admitted entering the victim’s home.
A warrant was issued and he was arrested last week.
