Crime Report: Battery, Burglary, Weapons and More

Three of this week’s thirteen who encountered local law enforcement.

This week our crime report addresses thirteen incidents. Nearly half were battery cases, but we also have burglary, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and intimidating a police officer, plus drugs, DUI and trespassing.

From left, Frantz, Currier and Barrelli

Lorie Frantz, whose address appears to be in San Marino at Town Center (west side of St. Andrews south of Glades), was arrested on burglary charges early Wednesday morning shortly after midnight. A witness called Boca PD to report a woman walking up to houses. When police found Ms. Frantz she had patio cushions in her car that she appeared to have stolen from the homes.

It’s not clear to us that this qualifies as burglary because we see no allegation that Frantz entered any dwelling or structure.

Frantz has a history of nearly 40 cases in the courts. Most are traffic cases but we also see two recent felony cases from 2018 that were somehow connected. She was found incompetent on one of them after a mental health evaluation.

Timothy Currier is a resident of the River Oaks townhomes at the corner of Lyons and SW 18th. He was arrested at O’Connor’s Pub in Sandalfoot. The 46-year-old with a skull tattoo is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and carrying a concealed weapon without a license. During an argument he pulled out a switchblade knife and held it near the “victim’s neck/shoulder area.”

The victim is a graduate of Olympic Heights High School and FAU. Currier appears to have moved here from New Jersey at some point in his adult life. We don’t see any significant criminal history for Currier.

Joseph Barrelli (age 28) was arrested for trespassing at O’Brian’s Irish Pub in East Boca when he refused to leave. While in the police car he allegely threatened the arresting officer as well as the officer’s family, earning him another charge.

We don’t see a lot of history for Barrelli but he’s had some issues with driving. Also in Broward we see someone with the same name who had been accused of “stalking violence” but those cases were dropped and we can’t verify it was him. He’s a Knicks fan so he can’t be all bad.

Izquierdo, Escarpita, Charri and Patterson

Daniel Izquierdo of Buttonwood Lake Drive in Boca Chase was arrested for possession of hash oil and drug paraphernalia. He was stopped Tuesday evening on Spanish River Blvd because his license plate lamp wasn’t working.

The 19-year-old went to Eagles Landing Middle and Olympic Heights High School. We see no other history for him.

Jorge Escarpita of northeast Boca was arrested for DUI on Palmetto Park Road just east of I-95. He refused field sobriety tests and the breath test at the station. He had a previous refusal (2013 in Gainesville), and was charged again with that here. The police report indicates he works at the “St. Andrews Retirement Home” which might be St. Andrews Estates, but we aren’t sure.

He appears to be a UF graduate who had hoped to work in sports management. We see a few cases for him in Gainesville including that 2013 DUI. He also has several traffic cases in Palm Beach County. Looking everything over it might just be time for him to consider becoming a teetotaler.

Sam Charri was arrested by FAU Police for trespassing. From the probable cause affidavit it appears he was previously given a trespass warning to stay out of “all FAU housing areas” on the campus. That’s not a good sign.

He was arrested in Glades Park Towers on the campus on Tuesday evening. If we’re not mistaken he is, or was, a lacrosse player for FAU and comes from Wisconsin where he also played hockey.

Christopher Patterson was arrested for trespassing after written warning at 200 Lindell Blvd. in Delray Beach.

The Palm Beach court system shows numerous cases for Mr. Patterson

Top row, left to right: Dumesle, Rosales, Ortis

Bottom row: Staats, Ramirez, and Koehler

The blotter shows six battery cases for this week’s report.

Leading off is Nancie Dumesle, with a reported address in the University View apartments east of FAU. She’s accused of scratching her ex-boyfriend’s face and chest. He had come to her place to pick up some items. She claims he choked her. She has no prior history that we can see. The ex-boyfriend may be a 6 foot tall, 225 pound former high school football player from Broward.

Carlos Raudales Rosales was arrested for domestic battery. He allegedly hit his live-in girlfriend in the face with a closed fist several times, while they were in the parking lot outside Rumba’s Night Club in West Palm Beach. He claims she hit him first and he only hit her once. We see no prior court cases for either of them.

In case you thought we’d have a crime report with nothing from Watergate Estates, Kristine Ortis of N. Branch Road saved the day. She was arrested for battery, accused of hitting another woman with a coffee mug. Ortis has no other cases in Palm Beach County but we did find an old felony cocaine case from the late 1980s in Broward.

Charles Staats (46) from the east side of 441 in Sandalfoot Cove, was arrested for pushing his domestic partner. Deputies described a bloody scene that apparently resulted from Staats cutting his hand on a broken glass table during a relationship argument.

Back in the trailer park, Alexander Ramirez (41) of Atlantic Circle faces two counts of battery for choking his wife and punching his teenage step-daughter in the face. The report lists Ramirez as a non-citizen, from Colombia.

Christopher Koehler (26) of Latona Place in Boca Fontana finishes our report this week. This looks like one of the dumber cases of domestic battery. His girlfriend sounds like a major idiot. He was at a friend’s house and she wanted a cigarette so she took an Uber there to get one. Somehow that led to an argument. He went home to get his stuff and she stood in the way of the car so he couldn’t leave. So he moved her. No injuries. And they charged him with battery.
