Local News and Real Estate for West Boca Raton
Schools will be closed Monday in West Boca and the rest of Palm Beach County. The school board made the decision at roughly 1 am due to worsening storm conditions.
At this writing we are hearing heavy rain and high winds outside, just a couple hours before school buses will start picking up students. Looks like a good decision. But maybe a little late? Expect a few complaints.

We’ve been tipped off to a great parent resource for West Boca (and Boca generally). The website Minivan Madness has all kinds of information about what’s going on in Boca Raton, including a lot of events in West Boca.
Our favorite resource is their Boca calendar which covers lots of kid-friendly events.

It’s time to sign up for kids sports. Here are some of the options. If you know of any others please e-mail us.
Soccer: GBYSA tryouts are in late May. Registration is open now so sign up.
Basketball: There is a Boca Hoops Summer Camp (link is to a pdf). Prices go up if you sign up after June 1 so sign up soon.
Softball: Registration is now open for West Boca Diamonds. The season starts in late August.
Baseball: Registration is also open for the fall season of West Boca Youth Baseball.
Golf: The County has a few summer golf camps: Palm Beach County golf camps.
Hockey: The Saveology Ice Plex in Coral Springs has some Florida Panther summer hockey camps.
We hope to do a post soon on the other summer camp options. Again, please let us know if you have other suggestions.
Today (Saturday ) both the Glades and West Boca library branches will have Mothers Day events for kids at 11 am for about one hour. There will be stories and possibly more.
