Coming up October 19th, Drs. Marla Dudak and Dana Schey will lecture on breast cancer awareness. Noon at the Glades library.
And on October 26th, Drs. Scott Dudak (yes they’re related), Hollowell and Varghese will lecture on prostate cancer screenings and “minimally invasive” surgery. Image from the WBMC flyer below. And more events below that.
By the way, I’ve met Dr. Scott Dudak and like him. And I’ve also heard very good things about his wife.
There’s also an upcoming AARP driver safety course on November 2nd. That probably reduces your car insurance rates. And there’s some info on free bone density screenings (probably aimed at seniors) and diabetes classes. More details in the image below.

RN Job Opening
We just saw a job opening: RN at West Boca Med Center.
Picketing at West Boca Medical Center?
We saw a report today that some staff may have picketed West Boca Medical Center today. We did not see anything when we drove by on 441, but there’s some issue going on.

The picketing was planned by the union 1199/SEIU. But we haven’t found any good information explaining what the issues are.
Med Center News
A couple of news items from West Boca Medical Center:
1. The hospital announced its two “heroes” for the second quarter of 2012, employees who went “above and beyond” to help patients and the community.
The heroes are Ruby Ganga, who works with the registration of birth certificates, and Barbara Lee, a labor and delivery nurse. Lee is known for celebrating employees’ big life events.

2. The hospital won a “Five Star” award from Healthgrades for Excellence in Maternity Care. That was also mentioned in a report from Miami’s CBS 4.
West Boca was also rated 5-star for gynecologic surgery. See this healthgrades pdf, page 27.
Baby App from West Boca Med Center
A bit odd, but West Boca Medical Center announced it has a new Maternity Tracker feature on its app for mobile devices. Shooting from the hip this looks downright odd and unlikely to get a lot of users.
