New Stores & Restaurants on Glades Road

saks-off-5th-west-boca
We’ve noticed progress on new stores and restaurants that are open or will be opening soon. Above you can see that the Saks Off 5th in Somerset Shoppes is looking closer to ready. We’re guessing it will open in a couple months.

In the same plaza, near Original Pancake House, it looks like the Orange Theory fitness center is up and running.

We see some progress on the Armadillo Cafe, both outside (above) and inside (below). This place has a lot of buzz as well as interest from customers of the old location in Davie. We’re told to expect a soft opening soon, sometime near Valentine’s Day.

On the outside the new Walgreens building in Shadowood looks close to ready, but inside there’s still a lot of work to be done.

Also in Shadowood, Lime Fresh Mexican Grill is definitely coming. We don’t see any progress inside the space yet but there’s a sign outside saying they’re coming:

It’s next to Sybarite Pig, and you can see where the outdoor seating will be on the right side of the picture below.

On the south side of Glades at 441, the new building everyone’s asking about looks great on the outside.

Again we don’t see much done on the inside so don’t expect anything to open for at least a month and maybe 2-3 months. We’re also pleased that there’s a lot of parking.

Also in Westwinds we just learned that a new Mathnasium franchise will open to serve West Boca. There used to be one in the Boca Lyons plaza but that closed a couple years ago but still operates just east of Town Center near the Hooters. A new franchisee is giving it a shot and we’ll cover that in more detail soon.

They should open their doors this coming week.

Speaking of Boca Lyons Plaza, it appears they’ll finally replace the old Ethan Allen with a 4th Generation Organic Market & Cafe.

In the same plaza we also see a new “Clouds of Vapor” electronic cigarette shop, and Ace’s Barber Shop has opened between that and Steve’s Wood Fired Pizza.

The Four Seasons restaurant is up and running and we see customers giving it a try. We’ll get there soon. Next door in the photo above the lit-up store front is Creative Heart Dance Studio with a lot of dance classes for kids. They’re using this space as well as an area upstairs next to the FitRX gym.

New Walgreens Photos

West Boca photographer Johnnie Butters sent us these photos of the new Walgreens set to open soon in Shadowood Plaza on the north side of Glades just east of 441. Above is the front, facing Glades.
Next is the east side of the building, showing where the drive-thru lane will be:

And last is the west side of the building, showing the current Walgreens in the background:

Butters thinks it looks ready to open, but we don’t know any official open date yet. We’ll see if we can find out and keep our readers informed.

Ace's Barber Opening in Boca Lyons Plaza

We’ve been alerted to a new barber shop opening in Boca Lyons Plaza. Ace’s Barber Co. will be in the section facing Glades Road, near Steve’s Wood Fired Pizza, Clouds of Vapor, and Carvel.
Boca Lyons Plaza is on the southwest corner of Glades and Lyons:

Below are some pictures of the place.

We’re told they’re hoping to take “the barbershop experience to a new level.”

Pei Wei Coming to Glades & 441? Business Update

pei-wei-beracasa
We have several business stories to report. The biggest is Pei Wei. We’ve learned that the new construction in Westwinds of Boca (SE corner of Glades and 441) will include a Pei Wei Asian Diner. We have confirmed that there will be a total of five tenants in the new building, and that two of the other tenants will be a VisionWorks eyeglass store and a European Wax type place. All five tenants will be national chains, though we don’t yet know what the last two will be.
On the north side of Glades we’ve confirmed that Lime Fresh Mexican Grill will be coming to Shadowood, next to Sybarite Pig. Lime Fresh will be using the outdoor patio. We were wondering if the two would share the patio similar to how World of Beer in Promenade encourages other restaurants to deliver food, but apparently that’s not in the plans.
Also in Shadowood we noticed that the parking lot next to the new Walgreens has reopened. And we learned that a storefront near that will soon be filled with a Boca Nail Bar, expected to open early in 2015.
No word yet on the space used by the current Walgreens. As we understand it there are ongoing negotiations with potential tenants.
Further west a reader tipped us off that the China Cafe restaurant in Loggers Run (next to the post office) was not answering their phone. We stopped by today. There’s a sign on the door that says they closed temporarily on September 26th due to a personal emergency. The door was open and we were able to speak to the owner. He didn’t elaborate on the reason, but said he hopes to reopen in the next couple weeks.
Last, we visited the Shadowood Theater and experienced the new layout with reclining seats. It was very comfortable, and also a lot easier to get in and out of the rows.

12 of the 16 theaters are complete and the last four (to the left as you walk in) are currently blocked off.

For this last photo there was a language barrier so we decided to block out the faces since permission was unclear.

Customers Complain: Boca Bridal

IMG_7107.JPG
A reader advises to be wary of the Boca Bridal sale on Beracasa Way.

So after waiting they tell everybody with over a hundred fifty people in line that at 8 o’clock they are closing the doors and they will have to come back tomorrow, very rude very unprofessional and no compassion if you can write about and post that to the real dangers it would help a lot of people not waste their time
