Here’s what one witness reported:

Woman driving the Flex was westbound on yamato. Driver of a saturn sky pulled out into traffic into the side of her and spun her a bit and she aimed right for the ditch. I was a few cars behind it and the person that pulled the woman from the car. Everyone was alright. Just shaken up

We also had reports of accidents last night at Yamato and 441, and at 18th and Lyons. This photo, from the latter, is a motorcycle on fire.

New Cell Tower? Yamato at Boca Shores

20140522-104642.jpg
A reader tipped us off to a new cell tower being deployed inside the Kimberly Substation on the north end of South County Regional Park. The tower is up with equipment to follow.
A few work trucks were scattered around the intersection in front of Boca Shores and the park’s Yamato exit.

Here’s a panorama view looking south from the Boca Shores entrance:

And this shot, also from the Boca Shores side, shoes a couple workers and a small utility area marked off.

Our tipster was curious which cell phone company might be involved. We asked but no one there could tell us. However, one if the guys had an AT&T logo on his shirt. Maybe that’s just a coincidence.
The Kimberly Substation is one of those critical pieces of infrastructure that most of tend not to notice.

But of course, those looking for a secluded place to drink some beers and then discard the refuse know it’s there.

Lane Closures on Yamato

We just received notice from FDOT about upcoming lane closures in East Boca:

Restriction: Yamato Road, from Military Trail to US 1, will have one lane closed intermittently in each direction, 9 p.m. until 6 a.m., Wednesday night, May 14, until Monday morning, May 19.

If we understand correctly, there will be lane closures between the hours of 9 pm and 6 am on roughly five consecutive nights. We’re not sure if they’ll be doing this over the weekend, but it certainly appears there will be a closure Sunday night.
