Original Pancake House at Somerset Shoppes
It’s a national chain with a state presence – Original Pancake House Florida. We’ve been to the Boca location a few times and haven’t had a bad meal yet. Somerset Shoppes has a number of good restaurants, including Efes Turkish Bistro, Saito’s Japanese Steakhouse, and Rancheritos.
Inside there’s a lot of space, which is good because there’s usually a wait to get a table. But the line seems to move.
Obviously they’re known for their pancakes, and for good reason. Here’s an unfortunately blurry shot of the kids’ pancakes dish:
We’ll have to go back and get a better picture of that. And here’s a better shot of a full-size pancake smothered appropriately with butter, syrup and powdered sugar:
That wasn’t my plate but I had to try it and it was delicious.
Myself, I had to do something different so I had the Blintz.
It’s crepes filled with some kind of soft cheese and topped with fruit – in this one strawberries and blueberries. I told myself that would make it healthy. I tried it with fruit syrups first but it was best with the faux maple syrup. Probably not good for my diet but it was worth it.
I’m not sure what it is about Somerset Shoppes but the parking feels a little awkward near Original Pancake House. I like to park by Saito’s, which is not busy at breakfast time.
Service was friendly and responsive. One thing that seems common here at breakfast and bagel places is that you pay at the register on your way out, rather than paying your server. It works well here.
