West Boca Relay for Life

photo(1)Yesterday we met with Jennifer de Gruccio, a specialist with Relay for Life. Relay for Life is an annual fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Events take place all over the country on the same day. The West Boca event will take place on April 26th at Olympic Heights Community High School beginning at noon. Relay for Life is for all cancer survivors, caregivers and those who want to honor or remember a loved one who has battled cancer. The event features a survivor lap at 6 p.m. and a luminaria tribute at 8:30 p.m.. It is easy to register on the Relay for Life website. Its just $10 to register and join a team.

scarzellaDr Dawn Scarzella, a urologist, will be presenting The Bladder Diaries: Leaking the Untold Story of an Overactive Bladder at noon on December 3rd. Dr Scarzella attended training at the Cleveland Clinic and Cedars Sinai Medical Center on incontinence treatment techniques.
Dr Clive Woods, orthopedic surgeon, will be presenting Ankle Arthritis: The Latest on Total Ankle Replacements at noon on December 12th. Dr. Woods did his residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
 
eatinghealthyEating Healthy Through the Holidays will be the topic on December 19th at noon discussed by Nicole Marchand, a registered dietician.
Food and Drug Interactions is the lecture at noon on December 20th by Jackie Frost, a Pharmacist.

breast-cancer-ribbonThe Lynn Cancer Institute is hosting an interactive discussion on the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer on October 9th at 5 p.m. Speakers include Dr. Robyn Moncrief, Dr. Rashmi Benda nd Dr. Jane Skelton. Dr. Robyn Moncrief is a board certified surgeon specializing in breast surgery. Dr. Rashmi Benda is a board certified radiation oncologist. Dr. Skelton is board certified in internal medicine with a sub certificate in medical oncology. Registration begins at 4:30 p.m. or call 561-955-3276. Light refreshments will be served. Dr. Cheryl Moss-Melman and Dr. Marc Kallis will present Breast Cancer Screening: New Approaches and Technology Customized to Fit Your Needs. Dr. Moss-Mellman is board certified in internal medicine, specializing in breast health and Dr. Kalis is a  radiologist. The lecture will be at West Boca Medical Center’s Education Center at 21644 State Rd 7 on October 10th at noon. Dr. Marla Dudak will present Should you see a Breast Specialist? on October 23rd at noon. Dr. Dudak is a board certified surgeon specializing in breast disease. Breast Cancer Bazaar & Brunch and Learn

Lynn Cancer Institute and the League of Ribbons are sponsoring this event for survivors, family, friends and women interested in learning more about breast cancer. The Bazaar will be held on October 5th, 9:30 to noon at the Lynn Cancer Institute at 701 NW 13th Street, Boca Raton. Products and services for survivors will be available for sale from 9:30 to 10:30. Raj Anderson, a licensed massage therapist certified in oncology massage, will be there to talk about how massage can enhance your body’s healing process. Massage is especially helpful for post mastectomy clients, radiation therapy and reconstruction clients.
At 11 a.m. there will be a seminar on breast cancer, early detection, genetics and risk factors presented by Louise Morrell, MD, Medical Director of the Lynn Cancer Institute and Juliette The, MD, Board Certified Radiologist.
