Sunrise Park Elementary 5K Race

Sunrise Park Elementary’s PTA will be hosting the “Sunrise to Run” 5K run/walk this Saturday, March 16th. The 5K will start at 7:30 a.m. at the Pond Apple Pavilion in South County Regional Park. This is the first time that the race has been made into an official 5K that is open to the public, which is an exciting way to get the entire community involved in raising funds and awareness for the West Boca elementary school.
At 8:45 a.m., the younger athletes can participate in a 1-mile Kid Run. There will also be a celebration carnival after the run/walk, featuring face painting, food vendors, bounces houses, and a rock climbing wall. The registration fee is $5 if completed by March 11th (tomorrow!) and $30 from March 12- race day for ages 17+. The cost for runners age 16 and younger is $15, and a family of six is eligible for the family price of $60. The registration fee for the Kid Run is $10, including a T-shirt. Participants can register at http://www.active.com/.

Boca Reserve Grand Opening

This Saturday is the grand opening for Boca Reserve, a new 44-home development, off Palmetto Park at Riverside Drive.
Here’s a couple of views of the entry area off Palmetto:

Models will range in size from 3 to 6 bedrooms with the largest, Veneto, having 5000+ square feet under air. Here’s what the model looks like from the outside (the inside of the model was not open when we stopped by):

With the small number of homes, there are few common amenities. They are projecting HOA fees of $150/month, which is substantially less than some other communities in West Boca.
There is an electronic gate setup:

With no homes built yet other than the model, there’s not a lot else to see. Here’s a view of it from the cul de sac:

Learn more about it on the Minto Boca Reserve web page. We wish them luck.

Missing Dog from Boca Falls

We received a report of a missing dog, a Yorkie. See photo below.

The dog’s name is Sultan. He was first reported missing on Christmas Day in Boca Falls (the far west end of Glades and Palmetto).
We’re told there may be a reward for bringing the dog back to his owners.
Please call either of these two numbers if you have any information: 561-704-0189 or 561-826-7168.

Relay for Life West Boca Update: Get Your Gifts Wrapped!

As the holidays are among us, the efforts of the teams supporting West Boca’s Relay for Life are no where near taking a holiday. Relay for Life is an event by the American Cancer Society that takes place all around the nation to raise funds and awareness for cancer research. West Boca’s Relay for Life is fast-approaching: the event is planned to take place on February 23rd, 2013 at Loggers’ Run Middle School.
The teams are gathering together to raise funds for the big day by “Wrapping for a Cure.” They have four dates in December and three locations to choose from, and are offering their gift-wrapping services in exchange for a donation to the cause. Come by, donate, and let the teams take care of all of the holiday gift-wrapping.

The West Boca Relay for Life teams are offering their gift-wrapping services in exchange for a donation to support cancer research and awareness.

The first gift-wrapping date is this Saturday, December 15th, at the Shadowood Square Starbucks (located at the intersection of US-441 and Glades Road). The teams will be out front of Starbucks from 10 AM-3 PM, which is next to the Boston Market in the shopping center.
The second gift-wrapping date is Saturday, December 22nd, at Mizner Park.  The teams will be at the Starbucks from 10 AM- 3 PM. The Starbucks is located next to Robb & Stucky.
The Relay teams will also be wrapping at the Walgreens  on 441 & Palmetto Park Road and the Walgreens in Shadowood Square (the shopping center at the intersection of 441 and Glades Road) on December 22nd, 23rd, and 24th from 12 noon until 9 PM. For those last-minute gifts in need of wrapping, these locations are the perfect fit.
