Sunrise Park Elementary’s PTA will be hosting the “Sunrise to Run” 5K run/walk this Saturday, March 16th. The 5K will start at 7:30 a.m. at the Pond Apple Pavilion in South County Regional Park. This is the first time that the race has been made into an official 5K that is open to the public, which is an exciting way to get the entire community involved in raising funds and awareness for the West Boca elementary school.
At 8:45 a.m., the younger athletes can participate in a 1-mile Kid Run. There will also be a celebration carnival after the run/walk, featuring face painting, food vendors, bounces houses, and a rock climbing wall. The registration fee is $5 if completed by March 11th (tomorrow!) and $30 from March 12- race day for ages 17+. The cost for runners age 16 and younger is $15, and a family of six is eligible for the family price of $60. The registration fee for the Kid Run is $10, including a T-shirt. May 10th: Imagine Dragons at Sunset Cove
Up and coming indie rock band Imagine Dragons is scheduled to play the Sunset Cove Amphitheater on May 10th, starting at 7:30 pm.
Their best known song is “It’s Time.” Video is below:
It should be a good concert. For locals who are not going, watch for traffic on Glades that evening.

Casting Crowns, Saturday at Sunset Cove Amphitheater
Saturday at 7 pm West Boca hosts a concert with Christian Rock group Casting Crowns. While most of the prime seating is sold out, there are still general admission tickets available for $30 per person or $20 each if you have a rather large group.

The official website for Casting Crowns doesn’t appear to be working well today, but you can read more about the band on Wikipedia.
The event will be in Sunset Cove Amphitheater. Doors should be open at 5 pm. We’ve already seen signs for concert parking, directing traffic from Glades to go north on Cain.

JCC Family Field Day: February 10th
The West Boca JCC is putting on a Family Field Day at South County Park. The event is February 10th from 12:30 to 3:30, and includes a bunch of activities.
It is billed for families with kids from age two to thirteen. Food includes ice cream and hot dogs. Fun stuff ranges from bounce house to relay games and a DJ too. Call the J for more information: 852-3257.
FireFest Sunday in Aaronson Park
Palm Beach County firefighters are putting on FireFest this Sunday in Aaronson Park (South County Regional Park). It’s on from noon to 4 pm. We’re told it will be in the parking lot next to the amphitheater.

The biggest highlights include a Trauma Hawk helicopter landing; a Jaws of Life rescue; and a “live fire” showing how quickly a fire can engulf a room.
