Israel's Birthday in South County Park – April 26th

A Boca Raton-based Jewish group, Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County, is hosting a 64th birthday party for Israel on Thursday, April 26th. It will take place at the Sunset Cove Amphitheater. The main event starts at six o’clock, but the facility will be open starting at 4:30 with some activities starting around 5ish.
The biggest name on the ticket is local boy made good and American Idol participant Brett Loewenstern, along with at least two other musicians and performances by local school and temple groups. They’re even bringing in a group of kids from Israel to perform.

Pink Ball on April 21

South County Regional Park will be hosting the Third Annual Pink Ball on April 21 from Ten in the morning until Sixish.
The Pink Ball raises money to provide mammograms for women without health insurance. There is no admission fee but there will be many opportunities to donate or buy things that support the effort. Plus softball, vendors, music and more.

No Jet Skis in South County Regional Park

-Update-
The County may now start allowing personal watercraft. See article in the Sun Sentinel.
—Our previous post—
The Palm Beach County Parks Department does not allow “personal watercraft” in the South County Regional Park. [Link to application removed from county website]. The term personal watercraft generally refers to Jet Skis, Sea-Doos and Wave Runners (all brand names), as well as other similar machines.
The speed limit on the lake is 30 mph. Enthusiasts may not be happy that they’re being excluded, but public perception of Jet Skis is that they are mostly used at speeds higher than 30 mph, with top speeds of 60 mph or faster.
It is not clear from the permit but one would hope that the ban does not apply to canoes, kayaks and other small boats without motors.
