The musical Xanadu will be performed by Slow Burn Theatre in West Boca starting June 22nd and running to July 1st.
Performances are at West Boca High School, at 12811 West Glades Rd. Performances are set for Friday and Saturday June 22nd and 23rd at 8 pm; Sunday the 24th at 2pm; Friday and Saturday June 29th and 30th at 8 pm; and Sunday July 1 at 2 pm.
Tickets are $35 for adults, $30 for seniors, and $20 for students. The show stars Lindsey Forgey and Rick Pena.
The schedule for the upcoming 2012-2013 season is up on the Slow Burn website as well. It looks like a great slate including one of our favorites, Avenue Q, a parody of Sesame Street that is definitely not for children.

New Chabad Community Center Coming 2013
The Chabad Lubavitch group in West Boca is working on a new building. It will be located on Kimberly Blvd. near 441 (in the vicinity of Boca Greens), and the new structure will have 12,000 square feet.
We think, but are not sure, that this group is connected to the Chabad that is currently located at the end of Loggers Run Plaza near Walgreens.

Election Deadline June 8th for REC, DEC
Every four years Florida has “elections” for local party positions in Republican and Democratic parties. This appears to be a well-kept secret, as without elections the party establishment fills these seats with its own choices.
The deadline for filing is June 8, 2012. I confirmed the following instructions, generally, with the Palm Beach elections office. The blog post is aimed at Tea Party Republicans, but much of it applies to other Republicans and to Democrats as well.
Filing Process for Republican Executive Committee
I had previously heard that one cannot file before June 4th, but I did not hear that today.
The short version:
File this form with your county Supervisor of Elections: Candidate Oath (pdf)
File party loyalty oath with the party: Party Oath
Both must be “witnessed” (most banks have notaries) and both must be submitted by June 8th.

FYI, the Coconut Cove Water Park in South County Regional Park is open on weekends and holidays (and has been since March – we’re behind the times).
From June 8th to August 19th it will be open daily.

8/20 to 9/3 it’s open weekends only, plus Labor Day.
A season pass for an adult/child combo is $112, which works out if you go more than six times.
