9-Foot Gator In Lakes at Boca Raton

A reader sent us a photo of an alligator taken out of one of the lakes in the Lakes at Boca Raton development, just north of Yamato off of Cain Blvd.
The red oval on the map below shows the location, near the basketball courts and the clubhouse.
We’ve also pasted an interactive map from Google, below.

While it looks large to us, full grown alligators can reach 13 feet or longer.
The reader submitted the photo to us via our West Boca News Facebook page.
Update: Another reader posted photos of the gator swimming in the lake some time before this incident.

Another Dog Found

Another reader reports finding a lost dog:

Good morning! I live off of 8th and Boca Rio drive… I found this dog in my fenced patio. She looks like she’s been left outside all night, has a bite mark on her neck. No tags… Just a red bell and collar. I’ve called Palm Beach animal control and taken her to work with me, i didn’t want to leave her… Can you please post this?

If anyone recognizes this dog, please alert the owner, post a comment, or otherwise let us know. We’ll connect the owner to our reader.

The did was found just east of Federal Highway. See map below.

We usually stick to West Boca but we do have readers east.
