Boca Theater and Automation (“BTA”) the premier provider of turn-key, custom built luxury A/V and building automation systems in South Florida, announced today that it will be relocating its corporate headquarters and Technology Experience Center to a brand new state-of-the-art facility in Boca Raton, Florida. West Boca locals may remember them in their previous location next door to Ben’s Deli in The Reserve shopping center at 441 and Clint Moore.
“This move is a milestone in the evolution of our business,” said BTA’s CEO and Founder Jeff Galea. “We reached a turning point that necessitated choosing a new location that would not only accommodate our growing team, but also better serve our customers. We can now showcase the top of the line systems we are proud to provide, and demonstrate the value we bring to these solutions. We could not have taken this company to the next level without the incredible support of our customers, the talented BTA staff, and the close relationships we have cultivated with the manufacturers with whom we partner.”

Successful Opening for Saks Off 5th: Photos and Videos

saks-busy
It was an impressive “pre-opening” for the new Saks Off 5th store in Somerset Shoppes. We stopped by a little after 6 pm and the place was packed, as you can see above and in our 360º video below:

Parking was a little contentious immediately in front of the store, but if you went down toward Men’s Wearhouse there were plenty of spaces available.

The grand opening is tomorrow (Thursday). For details see our Facebook post.
We took a little time inside to record a more news-like video. But we’re still pretty new at video so this one isn’t the greatest:

Video from the Saks Off 5th pre-opening event today. Article to follow soon.Still working on our video skills. This one is slightly out of focus, but we'll get better at it.

Posted by West Boca News on Wednesday, March 25, 2015

We previously reported that Saks was coming back in October. It’s a pretty big store, taking the place of the old Loehmann’s.

While it seems large to us, we learned from their VP of Marketing Robby Schnall that they have larger stores in places like Aventura. Due to the smaller size they had to make some choices and to our disappointment they have chosen not to carry kids clothes at least for now. We did notice a very large array of women’s shoes:

There is, of course, a men’s section. We’d guess it’s around a quarter the size of the women’s section but that’s only a guess.

We were also impressed with how young the customers seemed. This time of year we typically see a lot of seniors. But we were told that the senior crowd came earlier in the day, closer to the 4 pm opening.

We also just like the look of the store. It’s bright and although it’s got a lot of merchandise inside, it has nice lines and is very bright.

Million Dollar Homes in The Oaks

oaks-front-wide
Recently we had the opportunity to visit new homes ready for quick move-in. The Oaks is a gated community on the north side of Clint Moore between US-441 and Lyons Road with new homes selling for $1 million and up. It’s a great location in many ways. For shopping and restaurants it’s across from The Reserve with a Publix, Villa Rosano, Fit Foodz Café, It’s All Greek, Tempura House, Ben’s Deli and more. Delray Marketplace is just north on Lyons at Atlantic. For commuting Clint Moore is one of the easiest east-west drives during rush hour and it’s close to two Turnpike exits – Atlantic to the north and Glades to the south.

There are two builders selling homes in The Oaks. In our recent visit we saw models from Richmond American. Click on any picture to see a larger size.

The first model we saw was large and loaded with features. The Kingsmill is over 5400 square feet with five bedrooms including guest suite on the ground floor. It starts at just over $1.1 million but the model we saw would be quite a bit more.
The kitchen is an example of the high-end features. It has a wraparound counter around a large island that includes a second sink.

The gas range is extra wide and there are actually two dishwashers. The gas can also be extended to the dryer in the laundry room and the grill on the deck.

Our favorite feature in the kitchen is the walk-in pantry closet that is hidden behind regular cabinet doors.
oaks-kitchen3
The kitchen looks out on the backyard through something we hadn’t seen before – a sliding glass door that opens at a corner.

From inside you see a pleasant lake view.

The dining room is nicely done.

The master bedroom and bathroom are gorgeous, again with the high-end features you’d expect at this price.

After the Kingsmill we also saw the Westgate model, which is even larger at over 6500 square feet and starts just short of $1.3 million.

Unlike the first model this one has been left wide open to let the buyer’s imagination go to work. It is, of course, spacious inside.

The island in the kitchen is very large.

The Westgate comes with a nice architectural feature – a curved staircase which produces the curvature on the front of the house.
oaks-house2-staircase
The size allows for a feature we have seen before and like, separate his-and-hers master bathrooms off the master bedroom.
We also saw another model, the Cheval. This is the master bath.
oaks-house2-bath
One more feature we saw in the Cheval that goes beyond interior square footage is a large second-floor balcony off the master suite. This model was still under construction when we saw it.

Ace's Barber Opening in Boca Lyons Plaza

We’ve been alerted to a new barber shop opening in Boca Lyons Plaza. Ace’s Barber Co. will be in the section facing Glades Road, near Steve’s Wood Fired Pizza, Clouds of Vapor, and Carvel.
Boca Lyons Plaza is on the southwest corner of Glades and Lyons:

Below are some pictures of the place.

We’re told they’re hoping to take “the barbershop experience to a new level.”

Accident on Lyons at Boca Lago

accident-boca-lago
Fire Rescue reports an accident involving 3 cars at the intersection of Lyons and Boca Lago, which is between Glades Road and Palmetto Park Road.

From what we see on Google Maps traffic, there is a significant impact on southbound traffic on Lyons.

We recommend avoiding that section of Lyons Road for the next hour or so.
