Back in June we wrote about the parking situation at Delray Marketplace.
It’s not a very quick response, but we just received a press release. Delray Marketplace says they will add more parking soon, by the end of the year. The extra parking will be in the parking lot north of the movie theater. Curiously the release does not indicate how many spaces are being added.
We called to follow up and were not able to get an answer on the number of spaces, but were told they will try to get us an answer soon. We also requested a map, as the area north of the theater doesn’t seem to have much space (yellow rectangle in the image).
For now this response seems late as snowbird season is already beginning. We also suspect that the added parking will be insufficient and do little to alleviate the problem. But we hope they prove us wrong.
If we hear more, we will update this article or write a new one. And, of course, if any of our readers hear something please post a comment either here or on the West Boca News Facebook page.

Debit Card Fraud Touches West Boca
Great article in the Sun Sentinel about recent cases of debit card fraud in our area. In the last couple weeks two people I know have been victims of similar frauds.
Might be a good time to check your accounts and maybe even get your credit report.
Beall's Closing?
Today we heard a report that the Beall’s store on 441 near Palmetto may be closing. If anyone has more information, please let us know: [email protected].
We tried to verify the information by calling the store. We were directed to a “corporate” phone number that was completely unhelpful. After doing research we found what appears to be a more accurate corporate phone number that, so far, is also completely unhelpful.
However, based on the fact that the store employee did not deny it’s closing, we suspect that it’s true. We hope to get a firm date on the closing, and find out what might be coming in its place.
Update: After spending about 20 minutes on hold, we were told the store will close on August 3rd. Beall’s did not know what, if anything, will be taking the store’s place.
