Another Motorcycle Accident: Lyons & Glades

One of our readers provided a detailed report of an accident this morning at Lyons & Glades.

5am… Motorcycle accident just west of Lyons on glades. Looks like rider taken away in ambulance. Can’t tell if another vehicle or bike. Cops and fire trucks all over area. Happened at entrance to busy body gym, stallones, etc

That entrance is actually west of Lyons, across from Millers Ale House. It’s on the north (westbound) side of Glades.

There is one vehicle being held by police at entrance to plaza so it may be a case of rider trying to avoid car and drops bike.
5:20 traffic flowing freely
5:46 ambulance shows up for female (age 50ish) in newer model camaro. Can see everything from gym
Leaving gym. Bike still on road with police at scene. Gym manager went out and was told driver clipped motorcycle. When I left she was still speaking with cops being consoled by other folks from gym

Another reader reported the accident to us after 7 am, so clearing it up took some time.
We happened to drive through there at 8:30 am and it had been cleared up by then.

Road work on Glades westbound

There’s roadwork on Glades Road today, westbound at 95th. As we are writing this the middle lane is blocked and traffic is a bit slow but not too bad.

95th is between Lyons and 441, at the Glades library branch and just east of Shadowood.

Two accidents: Glades and also Lyons

We have two reports of accidents. One, on Lyons near Whisper Walk, has probably cleared up by now.
The other one is on Glades east of the Turnpike, and we’re still seeing traffic backed up on Glades westbound.

West Boca Walmart Hiring Center Open

We’ve been advised that has opened a temporary hiring center at 8903 Glades Road, #A-14 in the Somerset Shopping Center. It’s a roughly 2600 square foot space north of the Michael’s. The best entrances are probably the two on Lyons Road.

Walmart will hire around three hundred associates to work at the new West Boca Walmart slated to open late this summer in Boca Raton.
Applications will be accepted Monday through Friday from 8 to 5. Interested applicants may also apply online at Careers.Walmart.com.

According to store manager David Bonutti, the store will be hiring both full- and part-time associates. “We are excited to return to this area of Boca Raton, bring approximately 300 jobs to the community and expand our offerings to better serve our customers,” said Bonutti.
Walmart provides a benefits program to eligible full- and part-time associatesm including health-care coverage, matching 401(k) contributions, discounts, company stock purchase program and life insurance, along with performance incentives.
Most associates will start in August to prepare the store for its grand opening in late summer.

Accident at Glades & Cain

Thanks to a couple of our favorite readers, we have photos of an accident that just happened at Glades and Cain Blvd (west of 441). These photos are from about 10 minutes ago.

We are seeing some delays, particularly for westbound traffic on Glades.

There’s a substantial amount of debris in the roadway, and it appears the airbags deployed on at least one of the vehicles.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue is on scene.
