A reader reports that a mother and son were arrested earlier today in the Carousel Circle neighborhood. You can see the boy in handcuffs in the pictures above and below.
The Carousel Circle neighborhood is behind Shadowood and the Glades library.
We do not have names for either arrestee and will probably not get a name for the child. We may be able to identify the adult later.

Sheriffs and Fire Rescue on Ponderosa – Loggers Run
Several readers report activity on Ponderosa in Loggers Run, with both Sheriff’s deputies and Fire Rescue on scene.
6 cop cars, fire truck, police taped off area behind my house on Ponderosa in West Boca. Any ideas what happened? … Ponderosa between Little Bear & Woodchuck traffic closed down. Police still here.

My dog & I were sitting in backyard & I heard pop thought it was a car back firing. My dog freaked out & wanted to go inside. A few minutes later cops there.

Not sure what is going on, but Sheriff and Fire Rescue have a portion of Ponderosa Drive shut down. It is just south of Country Landings 1.

Update on Westwinds of Boca
We have reported on the project at Westwinds of Boca. This is the construction at the southeast corner of Glades & 441, in the same plaza as Home Depot and Publix. Our most recent update was about two weeks ago.
Well now we have something more reliable. We called the property management company and they got back to us. What’s going in is a small multi-tenant building with just short of 17,000 square feet. There will be five tenants. Two have executed contracts – VisionWorks and European Wax. There are three others but those contracts have not been completed yet. Rumors of a steakhouse or a drug store are apparently incorrect.
What they’re doing is not as big as we thought it would be. The Walgreens being built in Shadowood will be about the same size and that’s just one store.
Since people keep asking us, we asked and got an answer. There is nothing happening yet with the old Denny’s in Westwinds. They are working on finding a new tenant.
Pro-Israel Rally in West Boca: Video and Photos
A “pro-Israel” rally was held today (or is still being held at this writing) on Glades Road near Boca Rio and the Florida Turnpike. We’ve embedded a brief video from it, above, and have some pictures further below.
The rally was apparently organized in response to a protest yesterday in the same location. We described that on Facebook yesterday as “anti-Israel” protest. Some criticized us for that characterization and we’ll respond shortly in an editorial.

We weren’t planning on going today, but a storm ruined our relaxing afternoon at the pool. So we stopped by around 5:30 pm. It had obviously rained there as well. We’ve seen reports that there were as many as 300 people in attendance, but we did not see that many. The rain and lightning may have diminished the crowd.
We have been told there will be another pro-Israel rally tomorrow, again in the same location. Today’s was promoted by Boca Raton Synagogue. Tomorrow’s looks like it’s by Chabad.

Shadowood & Westwinds Construction Progress
We see a lot of progress in Shadowood Square and Westwinds of Boca, the two plazas on the east side of 441 at Glades Road. We’ve reported on these multiple times: Here and there for example.
In Shadowood, the shell of the future Walgreens is either done or nearly so. Workers were active on site this morning. Construction materials are piled up and ready to go.
On the south side of Glades in Westwinds of Boca (Home Depot & Publix), something big is coming.
Below is a panorama shot that stretches from the AT&T store of the far left to Boston Market on the far right. 441 is in the background of most of the picture. There’s a lot going on.
On the side closer to Glades we were able to get a better view. We think the big structures will underlay the parking but that’s a guess.
