West Boca Bulls Beat Spanish River Sharks

It was a gorgeous night last night (August 30th) when the West Boca Bulls football team made the 9 mile trip to take on their Boca Raton rivals; the Spanish River Sharks.
Sunset at Spanish River High
The game started out at a feverish pace, as West Boca put up 21 points within the first 4 minutes. West Boca’s offense looked strong and was led by QB Paul Columbo who threw for 157 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also rushed for an additional 54 yards.
The Bulls really didn’t look back and took the game by a shocking 69-7 final score. West Boca put up 392 total yards compared to River’s 194.
After such a game like this, the Bulls are already in contention of taking home a State Championship. They looked sharp and it will be very interesting to see how the rest of their season is played.

Palm Beach County High School Football Season Begins Tomorrow Night

Most high schools in the Palm Beach County School District will have their opening varsity football games tomorrow night. This season looks to be another good one as the South Florida football talent continues to rise with teams such as Dwyer and Glades Central leading the way.
The game I’m looking forward to in particular is the West Boca High Bulls vs the Spanish River High Sharks. The game will be played at Spanish River’s Shark Pit, tomorrow at 7:00 PM.
It will be a great game and a great season for all Palm Beach County football teams.

West Boca in the Wall Street Journal

Evert Academy Entrance
A West Boca landmark was discussed at length in today’s Wall Street Journal (the article is behind a paywall so you may not be able to read it). The Evert Academy is home to the US Tennis Association’s “tennis academy” for top young players.
Evert Academy from the courtIt is in the heart of West Boca and in the middle of Mission Bay, west of 441 and just south of Glades Road on Diego Drive. While the article says almost nothing about our area and focuses on tennis issues and how youth are treated there, it’s still pleasing to see our community get national recognition.
